I know not everyone on here is a cricket fan, but a fantastic series going on between England and WI right now.

England dominate in the first test, everyone expects WI to capitulate in the second. They don't, and play brilliantly to secure a first victory in 14 years.

In the decider at Lords, WI collapse from 73-2 to 123 all out. Normal service resumed? Nope, England now 24-4, Cook and Root both falling cheaply. Nailbiting stuff.

Love it. Match for Stokes clearly - he, Bairstow and Ali all play better when England are in trouble. The best lower middle order in the world will see us past 200, if we get past 250 we may only need to bat once.

Barring any further rain intervention, this might not last three days. I watched our innings, the ball was veering all over the place. Very tough batting conditions but some good bowling as well.

Didn't watch it but whilst conditions sound difficult were they really as difficult as 14 wickets falling in one day or was it lack of test match application by batsmen who think the only way to bat is attack?

If the last test was anything to go by, it really was that difficult! There are some good test players in both teams, and the last test went the full 5 days with good competitive batting on both sides.

You're going a bit early, aren't you? I know Consett to civilization takes a lifetime but it's only an expression. I mean in reality you can't do it.

But not going. Combination of protest at ECB and their handling of Durham CC, just be back from holes and trying to catch up at work and stupid time to be playing a cricket game especially in the north east.

Don't do it Trev. A 'cheeky pint' with ACS is when he downs a pint while standing on a table with his butt out. It's not pleasant.

500 test wickets for Jimmy Anderson. Fantastic achievement. One of my favourite possessions is a picture of Jimmy bowling at my local cricket pitch - you can see the house I was living in at the time in the background. One of the greats.
