Match Day Thread England vs Russia 8pm 11th June

Although I agree Sterling hasn't been spectacular, He offers us pace down one side, and usually takes 2 defenders with him. With Rooneys/Alis brain, Will open up holes for us to attack.

Not Saints, but then no one else is. England will do to fill the void in our lives. Also cricket and rugby this weekend. Pack my son off to the IOW Festival, feet up, glass of wine...sorted.

 

As for the trouble it's a shame as we've been a lot better at recent tournaments though I thought this might happen with so many fans going where it's only across the channel.

Police response probably hasn't helped and the problem that (decent) England fans have is that due to our reputation everyone wants to 'have a go' at English fans. Reckon Saints away fans will discover this next season (did already in Vitesse?). None of this excuses behaviour of a minority though.

Tonight is going to be mayhem, 9pm ko local time. Russians have a repuation too. Russian fans have been stealing England flags n posing for pics with them upside down. What does the stadium hold now?

I haven't really looked at the problems that have arisen, between the fans and the police, so I'm not apportioning blame, but with the very real threat of a terrorist atrocity, at sometime, during this tournament, I would imagine every single copper is on edge.
The last thing the French security forces need, are unnecessary distractions, caused by a bunch of fans that can't follow England without the need to get drunk and/or behave in a manner that encourages the police to step in. Although I can understand the temptation and the need to deaden the pain of watching some of the performances, under Hodgson.

 

Decided that now was the time to blare Vindaloo out and sing and dance around the living room like an idiot.

Mangaged to get my 20 month old son dancing along and singing ' na na naaa' as well though!
