Sorry, should have included the word 'fit' in the earlier question. Were Sturridge fit, he'd be in for sure.
This shows how very few of our top strikers or attckers are english if someone like Lambert is selected to play a WC qualifier. For me the astonishing international team is Belgium. How did they manage to get so many players good enough to be key and essential players in our top teams? FFS if Belgium can do it why not England???
It's a freak crop of players for Belgium. There was a time when we had Shearer, Sheringham, Cole, Ferdinand, Collymore etc etc up front alone. Lambert is genuinely better than people realise. 15 goals last season in a bottom half side isn't too bad. I know it was at a lower level but he's scored some outrageous goals over the years too. As for Carrick, can anyone really say they think he's one of our best two midfielders?
Stevie G is not a holding midfielder, no he's not. And he scores, further evidence that he shouldn't be playing there.
