I was going to say something smart about the rugby, but then I thought, "S*d it, you deserve your little gloat"
At least your team has a game plan.

It is. It's football intelligence, it's positioning, it's discipline. It's everything.

They looked clueless. It's like there was no game plan. Imagine being on the coaching staff of that team, performing like that, and being sat there with your head in your hands instead of raging at them.

    Shambles.

Didn't see the match tonight but what I did observe when watching Iceland v Portugal last week was their footballing intelligence. They have it in abundance which is in sharp contrast to England when I watched the game against Slovakia. This lack of footballing intelligence has undoubtedly been confirmed tonight looking at the result.

Absolutely correct. Lacking in intelligence from top to bottom.

I demand that future England teams be selected by referendum!

I half expected Iceland to give us a surprise, what i didnt expect was England to play so bloody appallingly bad, especially 2nd half. It was almost as if they WANTED to lose !

I read that as 'little goat'. I had visions of someone watching the football with a small pygmy goat on their lap.

This is what happens when the media demands an English manager rather than allowing the best candidate to be chosen. Isn't it funny how our most successful manager of the last 20 years... was not English.

When Walter Winterbottom was the first England manager, the squad was selected by committee. Alf Ramsey was the second manager and the first to select his own players.

Maybe pick the best candidate for the job rather than basing the decision on their nationality...

That is correct and then Alf did away with wingers.

Maybe it is time for a rethink but seriously not a committee. At the moment, and for the last 30 years, the England team seems to be selected by a combination of the England manager and loud-mouth tabloid journalists. Surely we can do better.

I was thinking when they were discussing the population of Iceland that actually the number of English players playing at the top level is so low that the population stats are almost meaningless. Maybe one positive of Brexit is that more English players will actually play in the Premier League.
