Sturridge and Vardy MUST start the last game. They have to. And if Kane comes on, it's additional to them to go for a win. We should be playing pacey counter attacking football, we are not Spain.
Been saying this since 20mins into the first game - Kane is shot. Unfortunately he's had no meaningful break for over 2 years and the lad is paggered. He looks like he is running in treacle. There is no point fannying around. Bilic made a good point on commentary, the best managers put there ego to one side and do whats best for the team. They don't have favourites regardless of whats gone before, they make decisions and changes to simply benefit the team. Simple thing to say, amazing how many managers can't put it into practice. Roy is being lauded in some parts for his subs. Personally I think we should be sitting comfortably on 6 points having thrashed two sides. I think his doddering around has put us at risk. With all due respect to the sides in our group, its a ****ty weak group. Russia have turned up with half their team and some old players. Wales are a decent side with a world class talent, but being honest they are not exactly up there with regard to talent across their ranks. Slovakia again are a decent side. We had the tools available to win easily in the first two. We are not all that ourselves but are the best team in the group. I understand after Kane's performances for England and Spurs going into the first one with him, but at 45mins the hook should have been out when it became clear he left his petrol in the season gone. We can still keep possession and dominate sides. You have to score goals though and have a cutting edge. Players have to be sharp in the final third. Vardy, Rashford and Sturridge are the players who look sharp. Although Bale acted like a tool I still want Wales to go through. I thought Coleman has acted with dignity throughout and is a proper bloke. No mind games, no ****e, just brutal honesty and a bit of class.
As you correctly say, we are not all that. Thing is, neither is anyone else. France have looked very poor. Germany were very mediocre last night. I didn't see the Spain game but it doesn't sound like they were spectacular. If Hodgson has been forced into finding his best team (which I think he has) then we may do all right
Its there for the taking. We could go fairly deep if we play our best side. Like you say any number have looked below par. Of course all these sides will inevitably get better. I think everyone is sleeping on Croatia personally. They are the best side I've watched along with Italy. I just feel Croatia have some massive quality in their ranks. Mandzuckic, Modric, Rakitic, Badelj, Perisic, Srna, Corluka, Strinic, - they seem a really good side, good technical levels, good mentality, and a perfect blend of experience/players at their peak - if I had one criticism it would be they lack maybe one or two bits of youthful energy. But then we haven't yet seen Coric or Kovacic.
haven't watched Croatia yet. Think I'll just go and do that. Italy were certainly nothing to write home about.
