Thankfully who I like or dislike has is not subject to the Queens/Swords approval committee. It's nothing to do with him being a geezer/ wheeler dealer - my Dad was both of those, no problem. Though H regards them as insults. Have you never had a visceral dislike of someone based on gut reaction? Mine pre dates his time with us by years. Of course I think he's overrated as a manager, but that's not the issue, and he's good enough for us at the moment. I just don't like him. Can we let it lie now? Queens, fair point my post was cynical, but go to the primary sources - the BBC4 radio interview and the section in his book on the England job. You may not agree with me but I think you'll get where I'm coming from.
I don't know SRR. I understood the Refs decision at the time. It would have been soft to send a player off for those two offences. All the decisions up to that point were going England's way. I think people are clutching at sh*t at this stage tbh.
Back SB73 100% as if anyone on here can't see how Harold plays the media with words then sorry but it's you that has blinkers. He has a great rapport with the English media and I like his Del boy character ... however he doesn't. I laugh at him because it must hurt not to be taken seriously in Football but should anyone as he contradicts himself more than most. It's never his fault and I don't think he is a good footballing coach in today's game. He belongs IMO inside a Jude catsuit selling jellied eels at half time. He has a good point however re England as they clearly need a complete change of principle about the national team. How we like our entertainment in football? ... well take out the foreign players in the top flight English league and it falls over completely. Having watched last nights match I was actually encouraged by some of the players in a England shirt ... the difference is that Germany France Spain and Italy will continue to produce a higher ratio of players than England. I have always thought that since playing a bit in France and against German sides in the past .. even at that lower level it was clear that theories of the game were then completely different to what we can even hope to understand. In Carhill, Sterling, Wellbeck, Lallana and Sturridge there at last looks to be a few players who do not fear expression which grows and nurtures confidence and i really hope they continue. Without expression and freedom then there can only be one outcome. I think both England matches have show great promise. France are in the same position with a new team so will be interested to watch them tonight against a very good Swiss team
I do agree with you. I'm certainly not blaming the officals for our exit. We're not good enough. I wasn't expecting anything from England in this World Cup and they haven't let me down.
Anyone saying the ref did OK to send him off should look at what the Greek got sent off for. We've been on the end of 3 wrong decisons, a pen in each game and a red not given. Saying that, going through would just mask the problems, England are not a top 10 side, in four years we won't be a top 20 side. We are regressing badly with no one to replace the old players and not a single world class player, teams like Bosnia, Uruguay and Croatia and even ****ing wales have them but we haven't got one and there's not one on the horizon. This could be the beginning of the end and we might not get anywhere near winning a tournament unless there's big changes. I'm not even gutted, this was expected.
This made me chuckle....Steven Gerrard post match...."Luis Suarez is deadly in front of goal," said club-mate Gerrard. "He is very clever and cute. He nearly scored off two corners and he hasn't played for five weeks but everyone was very aware of his ability." , which was preceeded by Woy a couple of days ago....England manager Roy Hodgson, who earlier in the week said that Suarez had to perform at the World Cup to be recognised as "one of the all-time greats". Well he´s proved that now Woy what you gonna do/say next oh mighty ´foot in mouth´ one?. LOL
