Nice to see three top quality goals by England. This will only give our forward players confidence and I hope Theo Walcott, Danny Welbeck and Andy Carroll all get starts for the next game and Rooney comes on if and when needed.

I thought we were really good, Sweden should never have been back in the game at 1-1, it was a stupid goal, the deflections didn't help (how many by the way?!) but Johnson should still have been able to clear it, and the second goal was his man (but why was he marking Mellberg rather than Terry or Lescott?). We can't afford those mistakes at the back again, but going forward I thought we were good and still have our best player to come back.

I'm really happy with the attackers we have now. I thought Carroll and Welbeck were very good, Defoe hasn't really had a chance yet but I've always liked him and we've still got Rooney to come back, spoilt for choice!

With defoe i guess it depends how he's coping after his father passed away. He may not be ready mentally at the moment

I have a feeling that he'll start Walcott, Rooney and Welbeck. Rooney and Welbeck obviously with the Man Utd connection and then Walcott to give us pace, flair and skills on the wing instead of Milner (hopefully). Bring Carroll on if needs be in the 2nd Half.

I reckon Rooney will replace Welbeck.

That may also happen, but I think Roy likes the way they are at the same Club and know how to link up. Makes sense as well when Young is on. Good old Woy will probably start this side:

    Hart
    Johnson, Terry, Lescott, Cole
    Walcott, Parker, Gerrard, Young
    Rooney
    Welbeck.

A sort of 4-4-1-1 formation, easily changeable to add little Ox and Carroll on in 2nd half if needs be.

Watched this match with a load of Villa fans in Brum- really is amazing how England always have to do things the hard way. I thought we were out for sure. Interesting to read about the guy spying for Sweden who got all Hodgson tactics before the game for the Swedish, explains the shocking defending at set-pieces. Young is a quality player even though he's been quietish- Milner is the one they need to get shot of, he has no quality at this level apart from covering for Johnson

Young has been an absolute liability.

The amount of times he has given the ball away ,and in some dangerous positions, has been ridiculous.

I'd rather he was dropped in all honesty.

They probably could drop him in the next match for Rooney, not sure Woy will go down that Crapello route though

Young has been the weakest player so far.

Young and Milner have been dreadful. I would give Young one last change against Ukraine, especially if Rooney and Welbeck are the front two. Milner is dreadful, he plays OK, but constantly does passes astray. I'd start Walcott instead of Milner definitely.

England's past teams have been made of players who play for rival sides battling for the top 4 in the Premier League and there's always been some "I'm not going to pass to him" or "I don't want to play alongside him". I think the more players we can link together to get some passes strung and get some nice flowing football happening.
I have strong beliefs that this Euro can bring the pride back to the England National Team. Promising times ahead!

Young has a moment of magic in him whereas Milner just has a moment of tragic, or rather lots of them- got to keep Young in the team for this reason

Being the sad sack that I am am watching the England game again fully sober, Young is really not that bad whereas Milner got a good cross in amongst letting the ball roll out of play and getting caught so far out of position that Gerrard had to play it back to the keeper. Milner can't get any better whereas Young can

Walcott has a hamstring strain ... if he can't play then I hope the Ox gets the nod .. Young has been pants so far ...but Milner is singularly average at this level ...

I watched it stone cold sober on Friday and Young was ****e.

I particularly liked the way he tried to get clever in either the last minute or in actual stoppage time only to give the ball away deep in our half.

He's a liability at the moment.

I honestly think that by slagging him off some mysterious, unexplained force will make him play like we all know he can and make me look a right dick.

I honestly hope he makes me eat my words.

I also think this will happen as I think Roy will keep Andy for his aerial ability
