While the gap in Premier League games is annoying so early in the season it does allow all the new players we bought at the end of the transfer window a chance to gell with the team so we shouldn' t knock these.

I frankly prefer a meaningless friendly against Spain or Germany than a qualifier against Slovenia or Malta

 

The arrogance of the English knows no boundaries. Belittle other countries, because we're better, we must be cos we say so.

Given that the Slovakian's played a major part in winning a Euro Tournament much more recently than England, it's just as well they don't have the same arrogant attitude.

 

Actually before you get on higher on that horse I would base the 24 seeded teams in pre-qualifying on the FIFA World Rankings. Currently they would be:

Portgal

Croatia
Wales
Sweden
Iceland
Slovakia
Northern Ireland
Republic of Ireland
Bosnia Herz
Turkey
Netherlands
Austria
Greece
Czech Republic

This also means that those meaningless friendlies suddenly become more important as they affect FIFA rankings.

Looks in later on, look in the net, lo and behold there's the odd Englishmen in there. Not just any Englishmen though, but one from the Empire with serveants in tow .
