Not so easy for Alli at this level mate. I thought their keeper played well (amazing save from Clyne) and Skirtel cleared one off the line. On we go!
frustrating, didn't think scoring was going to be our problem, more the defence. So we get the second team in the Hungary, Austria, Portugal, Iceland group next. It'll be ****ing Portugal won't it, with their 98 year old CB and that bloke who plays for Real Madrid.
We could do with some Latin, mercurial unpredictability in attack. We signal what's coming in advance. We're just not a difficult team to defend against at the moment
Frustrating, but we are through. That vardy chance was the one. If you could have had one chance fall to any one player, that would be it. Should have gone low, near post. Hard though to play against a team who solely want to park the bus. Fair play to Wales.
Me and Ian are happy, very happy...and Mrs Stan of course!!!! But happy that we both qualified... Anyway it starts now...and first or second in this group...the next match is winnable. England need to start scoring... Kane looks out of sorts....And Vardy needs to come on...not start. Feel it would have been different if Rooney started, Wiltshire gave away too much good ball early on...needed to score early... Next match is a very different kettle of fish
Or...without russians fluky last minute equaliser England would have 6 points and have won the group....
It wasn't creating chances that was the problem it was the inability to take them. Someone may get a hiding from us soon.
How frustrating was that? Although I have to say Slovakia defended brilliantly. Fair play to them, even though they offered very little going forward. I find it hard to be critical of the England side as they did all they could but lacked a World Class player to unpick the Slovakians. My only criticism would be that we looked a bit lethargic and we could've moved the ball quicker. Especially when we broke them down on the rare occasion they tried to get up the pitch. We didn't try to get behind them enough in the second half. Clyne who had a good first half and a good chance in the second then decided to check back and come inside. We needed Clyne and Bertrand to get to the bye line and get crosses in and get the Slovakians with their backs to the goal. It seems to me that all of our strikers are impact players and better suited to coming on from the bench. Carroll would've offered us something different to Plan A when that wasn't working. Not taking Drinkwater who has the best understanding with Vardy than anyone else in the squad is a mistake for me, especially when Barklay couldn't get a game tonight and I can't see him getting on the pitch for as long as England stay in the tournament.
