Good post that. And valid last paragraph. We missed those players...but still no excuse for that **** show.
The biggest problem is Southgate. Hopelessly out thought by Clarke tonight. The signs were there already against Crotia, just magnified tonight. Nowhere near good enough from him. TWquicklyT if he has the ability to sort it or not.

Anyway chaps, that's the bad performance out of the way. Was always going to be tricky. It's a tournament so need to peak in the knock out stages. Ask Germany.
PS Wouldn't a draw vs Czech guarantee second place, which would avoid the winners of the group of death?
PPS I'd recommend anaesthetic for the match day experience, certainly their rose tinted glasses are superior to the beer version.

The bad news is, Southgate will still be here in 24 hours... or longer...

why do you think he would?
what's he done as a manager, brief spell at middlesbrough as they left the prem
    and u21s
he's obviously not a high level manager, at least clarke left his coaching career at chelsea to try management and got the scotland job after heady heights with kilmarnock

Does anyone else think Kane is a meek captain? I've never seen him marshalling the troops, so to speak, when we need to dig deep for a result. That's two games on the trot he's let the game pass him by and I've not seen much fight from him. He's too 'nice'. He's got that polite, 'nice guy' persona like Southgate. I'd actually want a nasty, gobby **** as captain. Someone who will bollock the other players on the pitch when they're not doing their bit. I saw more of that type of leadership by Mings than Kane all game.

If I was Jadon Sancho and had a time machine, I would've bid my time and waited for German naturalisation and played for them because to get left out of the England lineup after the consistent seasons he's had at Dortmund because the waistcoat ****er picks an out-of-form Sterling over him is blatant disrespect.

Selfishly and with respect, I'd prefer that to France/Germany.

I think there's an issue with Kane just now, he's not the player he can be. He's looked off the pace these last 2 games and he doesn't look like captain's material. Is he fit? Is he thinking where his next club might be?

I've watched a bit of Bundesliga and he's always his impressed me. His numbers are equally impressive. He usually plays on the left for Dortmund in a similar position KLP does for us. Likes to cut inside a lot. He's just more explosive when he gets the ball compared to someone like Sterling whose first instinct is to trap the ball, hold it up and slow the game to a snail's pace.

Sterlings first instinct may be to 'trap' a ball, but he 99% ****s that up.

When you're playing against a team like Scotland who play a low block, you need players who are brave enough to dribble the ball at pace and carry the ball forward like Sancho and Grealish, not two defensive midfielders who are content to pass the ball between themselves sideways and a winger like Sterling who plays most of the game with his back to goal. There was no intensity to that game at all. Scotland were content to let us **** about with the ball at the halfway line and try and hit us on the counter-attack.

He's over rated and I doubt he'll thrive at either Chelsea or Man City.

Can't recall you bringing this up when he was the nation's darling after the last world cup.
We shouldn't forget what a fantastic job Clarke has done with Scotland in a short space of time. They were woeful when he took over. Didn't they fail to qualify through the normal route but got through via playoffs by doing well in that new tournament? With limited resources, he seems to have found a way to build around their international class players and slotting in those who fit into that system.
