Who the hell do FIFA think they are? Poking their noses in saying the players can't wear a poppy on their shirts as a mark of respect. After all the ****e decisions they've made, this is hypocracy at its best!

Bunch of corrupt bastards should be shot at dawn for treason.

Just very quietly give everyone a coloured card in the stand and hold them up so it makes the images of poppies, as for the rest I am not that bothered, I wonder how many clubs with poppies on shirts actually made a donation to the British Legion, I always make a donation but don't wear a poppy.

Fifa are despicable ****s in my opinion.
They wouldn't exist if our forefathers hadn't died in WW2.
    **** them.

The argument is that no religious or political logos etc are not allowed.

Since when was remembering those that died for their country a political or religious thing?

Politically, probably since our nation started invading Arab countries in the early 90s.

I think they should do it anyway and stick two fingers up to FIFA. If we were playing Syria or Iraq then I could see the opposition taking offence but of both nations are happy with it then it's fair enough.

There's sometimes a time when every man jack of us on the little island, go tell fifa to crawl back under the rock where they belong and f### themselves.

We will remember and pay respect to our people.

Sometimes you just have to do what is right regardless of the consequences.

Going against the grain here, but I actually don't have a problem with this. We don't need to wear poppies on our shirts to remember the fallen, nor to support the British Legion. If this is what it takes to stop some countries putting more contentious stuff on their shirts then it's no big deal to me. I can see how some countries could take it as political when we remember our fallen in wars we fought against them - they weren't all as clear cut as fighting Hitler.

That is not me saying that I don't support our troops who gave the ultimate sacrifice in following orders, but I can see it from the other side. I wouldn't be too happy to see the Argentinians politicising their fallen fighting for the 'Malvinas'. Football should be about football. I think a lot of this is just The S*n looking for another moral cause to boost sales.

Very important point to make. So, which grain are you against? Whole grains or refined grains?

Am in agreement with Nev on this. Its a sad fact that the Remembrance Poppy has become politicised for some so FIFA are right to insist it not be worn.
Players can wear it on way in and out of ground and better still donate 1 weeks wages each to the Royal British Legion. Even better the 2 FA's should agree to donate 5quid from each ticket sale to RBL and distribute a poppy to each supporter as they enter the ground.

They should just wear them or refuse to play

    Simple as that

I hope these arseholes get beheaded or have their loved ones blown up by a terrorist.

I can see what you're both saying but the poppy is not there to aggravate or intimidate anybody, for those who misunderstand it that is their own problem. What FIFA have attempted to do is to interfere with a tradition and more fundamentally a human right.

Now I'm the last person to jump on the human rights bandwagon, but what if they told women footballers they weren't allowed to wear make up or Wonderbras or have fake tits as it could potentially offend some ninjas in Riyadh?

People, whether they're footballers or shopkeepers should have the freedom to wear what they want without some jumped up sports 'authority' intervening.
