Yep...but against the better teams who will nearly all play with 3 central midfield players, we will be over-run in the middle. Townsend still should be tracking back when playing wide in a 4-4-2.
4-2-3-1 mate. 5 in midfield, with 3 central midfielders and Rooney up top who could drop back too. The balance to achieve for Woy is which players to play on the left and right. Play Townsend and Walcott and we could well get goals against even the best sides. However, we will also get out-numbered in midfield. Play Wellbeck and Milner and we would compete better in the middle, but almost certainly lose. Interesting times ahead.
Thats the art of management I think. The likes of Spain will always dictate the way their opposition set up - because they always know how they will play and have a production line of great players to implement it. Unless......an enterprising coach who either has huge faith in his players and/or a fantastic imagination comes up with something more than trying to contain them and surprises Spain into having to adapt their game - which they are not used to. I reckon the Germans have the best chance.
