Phillip Lahm is in that category. He can play anywhere in defence and midfield and would probably do a job upfront.
See, would he be able to play up front? I doubt that massively. But I agree, anywhere in midfield and defence he'll look world class. Rooney even looked good in goal in a Nike ad
Going to be a big call in a minute from Woy. Does he take Welbeck off and bring a defensive player on and hope to hold on. We need another goal.
I'd take Welbeck off and bring Milner on. Put Townsend on the left, Milner on the right. Give Smalling some cover, he's a disaster waiting to happen. (I am just guessing that he's on the bench to be fair).
I think he'd do as good a job up front as Rooney would at the back. Those type of players are very rare though.
I'm sorry but after the last two games Baines is streets ahead of Cole, something I've thought for a while now. Also Smalling is no right back, at least not at International level.
Much improved second half. Made me feel quite silly after admitting I was going to slate him until he scored. Have to say I agree with that sub. Carrick has been frustrating me. The commentators go on about his defending but he doesn't pressure the ball or in fact do anything when we're defending. Everyone else is busting a gut and he just stands still.
I don't know how people can slate Cole. Yes Baines is a good left back, but Cole has been performing at a high level, consistently for years.
