Fast bowler Mohammad Amir has been named in Pakistan's squad for the Test series in England starting next month. It marks a first Test call-up for Amir, 24, since he was banned and imprisoned for spot-fixing at Lord's in 2010. His five-year ban ended in September 2015 and he was named in Pakistan's limited-overs squads earlier this year.
Pakistan Test squad: Misbah-ul-Haq (capt), Mohammad Hafeez (subject to fitness), Shan Masood, Sami Aslam, Azhar Ali, Younis Khan, Asad Shafiq, Iftikhar Ahmed, Sarfraz Ahmed (wk), Mohammad Rizwan (wk), Yasir Shah, Zulfiqar Babar, Mohammad Amir, Wahab Riaz, Rahat Ali, Sohail Khan, Imran Khan.
Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir has been granted a UK visa and will travel with the team on June 18 for their tour of England and Ireland, the PCB announced on Thursday
James Anderson has emerged as an injury doubt for the first Investec Test against Pakistan next month due to a stress fracture in his right shoulder blade. The ECB confirmed he will miss Lancashire's County Championship matches against Middlesex and Nottinghamshire and that his availability will be confirmed nearer the opening Test at Lord's on July 14. Anderson picked up the injury during the third Test against Sri Lanka earlier this month although it is understood not to be as serious as other types of stress fractures
Pakistanis drew with Somerset at Taunton Pakistanis 359 for 8 dec (Younis 104, Shafiq 80, Masood 62) and 236 for 4 dec (Azhar 101*, Shafiq 69*) - Somerset 128 (Sohail 3-26, Amir 3-36) and 258 for 8 (Trescothick 106, Yasir 4-107) Pakistan looking a sterner test than Sri Lanka
Yorkshire batsman Gary Ballance has been recalled to the England side for the first Test against Pakistan at Lord's next week. England's leading Test wicket-taker James Anderson misses out with a shoulder injury. Middlesex pace bowler Toby Roland-Jones earns a first call-up and will vie with Jake Ball for a place in the XI. Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler and Durham all-rounder Scott Borthwick have all been overlooked.
England squad for first Test against Pakistan: Cook (c), Hales, Root, Vince, Ballance, Bairstow (wk), Moeen, Woakes, Broad, Finn, Ball, Roland-Jones.
Pakistanis drew with Sussex at Hove as the final day was washed out Pakistanis 363 for 5 dec (Azhar Ali 145, Misbah 68) and 71 for 1 (Masood 38*) - Sussex 291 for 5 dec (Finch 103, Wells 93)
Gary Ballance is a doubt for the 1st Test as he withdrew from Yorkshire's last match with a groin strain With Jos Butler nursing a fractured hand, I guess Ben Stokes would be a likely replacement playing as a batsman?
Jake Ball will make his debut in the first test at Lords Meanwhile, England expect James Anderson to be fit for selection for the second Test in Manchester.
Pakistan were 282 for the loss of 6 wickets at the end of the first day of the first Test at Lords Pakistan 282-6 (Misbah 110*)
Who would you pick EH? I think I would have gone for Stokes playing as a batsman (or Butler bearing in mind he broke his hand after the squad was announced)
England with 3 1st innings wickets standing trail Pakistan by 86 runs at the end of Day 2 of the 1st Test at Lords England 253 for 7 (Cook 81, Yasir 5-64) - Pakistan 339 (Misbah 114, Shafiq 73, Woakes 6-70) England's problems against a spinner who can turn it both ways rears it's head again - advantage Pakistan
England have added Mark Wood to their Lions squad to face Sri Lanka and Pakistan's A teams, as he continues his return from ankle surgery May pressure Finn for a place in the side near the end of the series??
Pakistan with two 2nd innings wickets standing lead England by 281 runs at the end of Day 3 at Lords Pakistan 339 (Misbah 114, Shafiq 73, Woakes 6-70) and 214 for 8 (Shafiq 49, Sarfraz 45, Woakes 5-31) - England 272 (Cook 81, Yasir 6-72) I would rather be in Pakistan's position here
Pakistan beat England by 75 runs in the 1st test at Lords Pakistan 339 (Misbah 114, Shafiq 73, Woakes 6-70) and 215 (Shafiq 49, Sarfraz 45, Woakes 5-32) - England 272 (Cook 81, Yasir 6-72) and 207 (Bairstow 48, Yasir 4-69, Rahat 3-47)
Pakistan legspinner Yasir Shah has displaced England quick James Anderson from the No. 1 spot in the ICC rankings for Test bowlers. Yasir is the first legspinner since Shane Warne in 2005 to be ranked No. 1, and the first Pakistan bowler since Mushtaq Ahmed in December 1996
James Anderson, Ben Stokes and Adil Rashid have been named in an expanded 14-man England squad for the second Test against Pakistan at Old Trafford. England squad: Alastair Cook (capt), Alex Hales, Joe Root, James Vince, Gary Ballance, Ben Stokes, Jonny Bairstow (wk), Moeen Ali, Adil Rashid, Chris Woakes, Stuart Broad, James Anderson, Steven Finn, Jake Ball
