It might have been said that we peaked against Aus but clearly we hadn't. I think SA will try to do to us what we did to NZ, it could be a pretty brutal affair, I wouldn't like to predict how it might end up. I think it might come down to who concedes the most penalties and I think England could win on that basis.
Tbh in the lead up to the world cup the England team were prone to giving away far too many penalties but Jones and his coaching crew seem to have got them playing with discipline again. I cant see the management team allowing them to be complacent .. and also expect some brutal exchanges in the final. Cant wait tbh.
I doubt SA will try and do to us what we did to NZ, and I doubt they can if you mean play at pace with a wide attack and little grubber kicks in behind. That’s not their game at all. I expect to see De Klerk box kicking all game like he did against Wales and them hoping we cock up the return Will be tense and tight though and I agree penalties will be important, as will yellow cards if they happen.
It was noticeable in the SA vs Wales game that the SA forwards never gave an inch of ground. When the welsh ran at them it was like they had run into a wall. But the SA forwards always gained a yard or two going at the welsh. Not sure how this will effect the final, is our forward line better than the welsh and more importantly better than South Africa's?
I think it will be down to who imposes their game plan the better tbh ... and as you say yellow cards I suspect will be at a premium. We certainly have the backs to do damage in the loose but whether the Boks will nullify that remains to be seen. I have been immensely impressed with our loose forward positions and think they could be key to our success
Yes, I read that. Can't really see the point of a £2k fine. World rugby doesn't need it, England won't miss it. If the 'offence' warrants a fine make it a worthwhile one and donate it to charity, or something.
Seems like a pointless fine at that amount, but completely worth every single penny. Just for this photo. please log in to view this image
