    We'll agree to differ mate.

The Scotland game was a fantastic match, like a cup tie and Scotland were actually good on the night. You mention a couple of friendlies but don't mention the win and draw against Brazil!
We could well fail to beat Poland tomorrow night, but I hope we do.

That doesn't bear thinking about, imagine how insufferable we (the English) would be if we won it! Glorious failure, down to 10 men, no subs left, keeper injured, lose to a goal that didn't cross the line, against the Germans, in extra time, in the semis, is more our style, or used to be. Then we can go on about it for generations, just like the war.

Let's hope we don't have a repeat of this October 17, 1973 performance against Poland - 40 years ago, I had just arrived in Lisbon, Portugal for the 1st job in my career:-

But on the bright side, if you look at the Group H table, and assuming that Ukraine & Montenegro win their games, even if we were to lose to Poland, we should still have a better GD than Montenegro with both on 18 pts, giving us 2nd place, and still in the running for qualification via the playoffs. Now saying that, I fully expect us to the pick up a win against Poland and 1st place in Group H with automatic qualification.

A place at Brazil 2014 might be in their own hands but England have been here before, and the omens are against them.
