He ought to be stripped of the captaincy.
Would probably keep him in the team though.
Don't know how anyone is surprised at that being a dull game. Playing a minnow when already qualified, clearly no one was going to be that arsed. It's the kind of game you just have to get through. I don't mind watching a dull game of a team I support, but if you do, don't watch a dead rubber between two enormously mismatched sides.
Probably why I'm not an international manager, but if I was in charge of a team that had already qualified and was brimming with international talent coming up against a proper minnow side, I'd be calling up a player from non-league or League Two just for ****s and giggles.
Not a game which will live long in the memory.
I thought Malta were better than expected. Their number 7 looked useful.
In some way similar to our game against Huddersfield, I guess it shows that teams that do sit deep are not easy to break down.
Foden was the stand-out.

Which is precisely why I didn’t. A few guys at work were talking about watching it and I said I was going to give it a miss because it would be a terrible game. We had pretty much nothing to play for against a very poor opponent. No matter what team we put out, they were never going to be up for it.
