ECB retracted their statement according to the bbc and now say “the final result is unclear”. All the players passed their PCR tests and there seems to be absolutely no reason to cancel the test. Last night it was all fine then suddenly this morning it’s not?

of it’s the BCCI who have done this fir the IPL I hope the incubation has started on the players and they catch a mild form just as it starts and can’t play in it! Just to **** them off.

I don't accept that. You can't just call off a game because you don't want to play it then claim the series 2-1

Maybe if we go 1 up tomorrow we should "forfeit" the remainder of the match due to covid concerns and take the 3 points

Well you have a point, if it is India saying the match is off, so that they can claim a series victory. I just cannot see the Indian players really wanting to do this...it tarnishes them?

 

Like the players have a say! Stinks if BCCI this to me.

Pointless really as all the pressure and interest that built up during the series will be lost playing a one off test next July

 

Thats what I suspect... Kholi will always be a tough captain and will not back down from any sledging. Undoubtedly he wants to win a Test series in England as part of his legend/legacy.... but not like this, it ruins it.

The BCCI wanted a shorter test series so the IPL could start earlier... England refused... perhaps this is payback?

 

Summed up perfectly. I know for certain that this series has attracted a number of non-cricket fans to the table. The bite, excitement, pressure etc that has been there has been great. I can’t remember looking forward to a fifth test so much. Even in the ashes. And for it to end like that? With a one off. No chance. The intensity will be gone, the players on and off form might be off and on firm respectively. There’s no way of knowing.

 

I guess we just have to trust the Indians on this one that they've done it for genuine reasons. We called off our ODI's in South Africa because of Covid concerns.

There's clearly a Covid outbreak in the Indian camp and the virus might not show in any of the Indian players until the match has begun.

 

If it was 1-1 I reckon they’d have played no matter what!

India are happy and that’s all that matters

 

There was an outbreak in the Indian dressing room during the fourth test so maybe this one should have been called off then not the morning of the fifth test.
