India haven't called this match off in order to say they've won the series .......they've called it off because they never wanted to play it anyway, they felt it was too close to the start of the all-important IPL. They've seen a chance and taken it. India is all powerful in the world game......Disgraceful!

There was an outbreak in the Indian dressing room during the fourth test so maybe this one should have been called off then not the morning of the fifth test.

Exactly, they had Covid concerns at the Oval, but didn't call that one off. They never wanted to play the OT match from the outset.

I saw a video interview with Dinesh Kartik and he was saying that one of the 2 physio's tested positive during the fourth test and the second tested positive the day before the fifth test so both would have been isolating. It probably explains why they did not call it off straight after the fourth test.
