Its cost many people hundreds if not thousands of pounds... hotels, travel, tickets none of which are refundable... this morning it was explained that Sky would pay something like £30 million for the rights to the test but thats about a fiftieth of what the IPL which starts next Friday generated. India cricket generates 80% of all cricket revenue...
I see the ECB are claiming the game was called off not because of covid but to protect the mental health of the players.. now I'm all for such but good grief the only reason this was called off was to protect the lucrative IPL .. let's not kid ourselves. Money talks as ever has been the case !
I was five minutes from Manchester on the train when the news broke. I’ve never particularly liked this Indian team and their arrogance but they’ve gone even further down in my estimations now. The cancellation was annoying enough, but the timing even more so.
