We only ever beat them in meaningless **** - ie people go on about the 5-1, but that was a qualifier for the 02 world Cup, and they got to the finals of that and we went out in the quarters. They always beat us in the important stuff. Going out
Our record against them is so bad that they don't even see it as a rivalry. They are genuinely bemused by the whole idea. The rivalry is all in our heads. To them we are just another team that they usually beat. When they do lose to us it doesn't hurt any more than if someone else had beaten them.
They see a rivalry with the Dutch rather than us if I remember rightly. We are inconsequential to German fans. And in fact pretty much all of Europe post Brexit
Yes, primarily the Dutch and I think to a lesser extent the Italians - a bit like us and Sunderland and Middlesbrough. Not many of us care about Boro, but some will a bit. England fans seeing a rivalry with Germany would be a bit like Newcastle fans seeing a rivalry with Man united or Liverpool. We may see it based on past defeats but they don't care cos any hurt is dwarfed by far more success. The Germans have won 7 international tournaments and been runners up in 7 more, compared to our one solitary win.
Yeah, but our football team can't get a whole load of other countries to help us beat them. This isn't cricket!!
I had a dream last night in which Marco Reus scored the only goal in the 25th minute and Germany won 1-0. It felt very real and I woke up thinking we were out. When I came to my senses and realised it hadn't happened I checked and saw Reus isn't even in their squad which is surely a big sign!! I'm therefore predicting that someone else is going to score their goal. England 0-1 Germany
Watching Lewandowski the other day, he's similar style to Kane but **** me, he's so so much better. Kanes a good player but as a captain he's weak as piss
