It's just aother way of saying to players, "Play for a big club and you're much more likely to pay for England, no matter how average you are."

He's been playing LB for most of the season for Liverpool and Woy fetched him on to play RB. He's got an unhealthy obsession with Liverpool considering they bottled the premier league title when it was sewn up in the bag, not a good idea. This guy would have never been picked under any of the previous 5/6 managers at least, I'd have put him down as probably the worst full back in the Premier League last season, he's awful.

They were just umeccessasry. I think the ref read the circumstances all wrong. Yes they were reds. But in a warm up game of no consequemce? But to 'disadvantge' both teams meant neither team was disadvantaged. Neither were punished really. Its not like one team deserved to be a man down to the other is it? As I said an it more pragmatism.

    No this one mate:

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/m/man_utd/5247208.stm

Man U v Porto. Rooney and scores sent off and Rooney missed August for club and country. Another interesting thing in that article is the "what can be done to protect Rooney from card happy refs"! No one has ever said that about Cattermole and it's far more relevant

Also. Re ox's injury, if not for play acting (rolling about). It would never have happened

It's not to do with punishing the team though is it? That's not what red cards are supposed to do, the red card is punishment for the player and the team's being punished is a consequence of that action. The players deserved punishment. If you let them off with that, then the precedent is set for players to all start strangling each other in every friendly and making uncontrolled lunges in every friendly.

If you read further down the page, it states Rooney's international ban was because of the sending off in the WC against Portugal... the Ronaldo Winker one.

Club rules must be different for sendings off in friendlies I guess.

The replay after the game showed the Ecuadorian fella roll onto his ankle and his ankle seemed to buckle, don't think it was anybodies fault, just one of those things. Again he just wanted to get the ball back after losing it and maybe tried too hard.

<laugh> It will be if you laugh at other peoples English, even when it's correct. Jesus Smug, I make enough mistakes in my grammar. You should jump on them instead. ;)

I did fella, All that was in consideration when I called it and attackers challenge, more often than not these tackles are caused by attackers trying to win the ball back. Still think it was no more than yellow.

What, you've lost me there mate.

I'm just saying that if, on the day after a 'B' team friendly, we're using dictionary definitions to dissect a ref's decision it'll be a long summer.

Not laughing at anyone, just saying.

It wasn't really a sending off though was it, there's no actual punishment and no aftermath.

The ref was just saying, "Get a ****ing grip lads, it's a meaningless friendly, not the final ........ **** off and stop being prats eh?"

If he'd left them both on, in that mood, and there'd been an English broken leg he'd have been ripped to pieces.

It was definitely right to ask them to leave the field imo.

The players know that though. They take being thick to a whole new level if they don't know that if they get sent off the team is at a disadvantage.

A stronger ref for me would have pulled sterling, valencia and the two captains aside (unless Valencia was the captain) and maybe the managers, to calm the situation down and say any more and there would be reds.

The ref might have been correct (I agree they were reds) in that they were reds, but it doesn't mean it was the correct or best decision.

Reminded me of me Mam tbh!

No, she wasn't a Nazi, she just use to lean out of the window, wet tea-towel in hand, and shout to me and my brother playing on the back garden, "If you two can't play nicely you're coming in right now!"

She's have sorted them two out, nee bother <ok>

Of course it wasn't the best decision, the best decision would be to call a celebrity deathmatch whereby Valencia would have exacted revenge properly!

    Hahahaha

Ironically, nowadays kids have to be forced outside for punishment. Not seen a decent treehouse or den since I was a kid, they've probably just got apps on their dorkpads for building dens now.
