    The two amazing things about the England squad is how few English players look like world class players (one, Sturridge, on form--in fact of course he'll do nothing); and how poor a job of selecting from the mediocre, too old and too young Hodgson seems to be making. Says it all that Townsend is a starter, really. I'd rate Lennon and Walker much more. And Rooney and Wilshire look like starters as well, apparently because he's sure he'll need two whiny, disgusting, underperforming, injury prone complete t**ts in his starting lineup.

    I saw a Who Scored compilation of best England players by rating this year in the PL that looked a lot saner. Sterling, Sturridge, Gerrard (sense a pattern here?), Baines, Henderson (I question that, but...). Build the team with a Liverpool core. They've been scoring, and it always helps to have a core team.

    I don't fancy England beating Vikings. Bound to be too strong and ruthless.

    Wilshire gets hurt and/or rolls around on the turf crying. What a surprise either way. Can only hope he's healthy enough to keep starting for Arsenal.

    Very dodgy tackle by Agger on Wilshere. Lost control of the ball and then went in hard.

  11. England look very dull. Far too many 'Pool players in the side is obviously a bad thing.

    Comedy miss by Sterling followed by an excellent save from Sturridge by Schmeichel.

  13. Sweet Jesus! What team does Sterling play for? He's absolutely useless! Can't even score from one yard!
    <doh>

    My mum would have scored that, and she's nearly 70!

  14. I reckon Greg Dyke is preparing his resignation speech after watching that first half performance.

    Pretty uninspiring first half. Johnson and Rooney are the only ones that have really looked international level. We're playing a poorer side at home, having more possession, playing more attacking football and still up until the last couple of minutes they had as many good chances as us. Liverpool players showing they're nothing without Suarez and some beneficial refereeing decisions.

    Hodgson continues to bewilder by packing the team with average players rather than taking a chance in some players at the less glamorous clubs. I want to get behind England for the World Cup but frankly I can't wait until Hodgson's sacked.

    Why isn't Sturridge being used in his usual role? Stick Rooney in behind him and pick an actual winger down the left instead of Wilshere and it's the Liverpool set up.
    What's the point in picking so many of their players and then shifting them out of position?

    Glad to see ITV are giving the F.A.Cup a boost by showing a 1st Rd replay tonight. Don't think either side will get far though.

    I keep getting distracted by the comparatively fascinating spectacle of watching the grass grow.

    That and the fact that the big boys, Chile and Germany, are playing at a far higher level on my other screen. Germany up 1-0 but deserve to be down. Ozil "too casual" and hearing some boos, but had the assist on the first, I think.

    Chile are a joy to watch. They play too positively, I think, to be a threat for the Cup but they could easily beat Germany, Spain or anyone else on any given day.
