Prior to the Belgian game when he was thrown on with a mish mash of 7/8 changes to the England side, Rashford has never had a poor game for England. He's been consistently good in an established side. I think he deserved a start earlier tbh and offers more than Sterling.
Do we need an alternative right now cos plan A seems to be working pretty well to me. Agreed that Rashford needs more than the couple of minutes he gets mind, but Southgate is watching them day in day out and you have to admire his loyalty to him. I'm sure Rashford will have taken his place by Euro 2020.
. You mean you think the United academy product offers more than the ex Liverpool Man City player? Shocked here
If we concede first can't see us getting to the final. They must worried about this going by the first 20 mins against Sweden. Can see Steve Hollands influence on this team(He's a Mourinho man, knows how to get a result touch wood)
Not at all. Honestly I just think Rashford is the better player. I may joke about Livpl or ex-Livpl players but club loyalty plays no part when it comes to England. I wouldn't swap Henderson, for example. If we hadn't become serious contenders I would've been happy to see their young full-back get a start as well. Initially we we were all looking at building for the future. Who knew!
I'd keep Rashford on the bench for later in games. Let Sterling run them about before bringing Rashford on to take advantage. Plus, if we're behind and need to switch things up, would rather see Sterling or Rashford coming on to try and make a difference? I'd actually go with Vardy ahead of Sterling if he wasn't injured.
Sterling has run his socks off and contributed a lot to the cause. We'll probably need to involve both players in the semi anyway
No ET pls, save that for final!!!! Especially playing day after first semi. Hope France Belg play ET tonight plus a red card or two!!
I don't think he's been **** but I don't think he should be picked. He does some things well like running into space but has zero end product and just runs into traffic anyway. Don't think I've ever seen him beat someone, despite him usually being much pacier than the defenders. Rashford can do the running around too but has much more to his game, IMO.
The question is would Rashford constantly make the runs into the channels like Sterling has particularly when a lot of the time he won't be getting the ball. My opinion is no but like Zanjinho i would have been in favour of replacing Sterling with Vardy for the Sweden game as he will make the runs plus have an end product. I'd save Rashford as a impact sub. My view is that the line up is now set in stone unless injuries /suspensions intervene.
England are very boring to watch, Stirling is one of the few players that actually tries to do something, everyone else seems to like pretending to be a crab and move sideways, eventually hoping for a corner/fk when someone gets bored and hoofs it for Stirling to chase. Kane may get the goals, but Stirling is the threat.
