Yeah. But why Sancho? Maguire is injured. Obvious to leave him out. Chilwell, fair enough. Don't really need him and Shaw on the bench. But why not Sancho? Is he injured? Because otherwise, when are we ever going to need two sub keepers?
I just read on twitter (so might not be correct!), but having 2 GKs on the bench is a requirement. Have other teams done the same so far?
Saints rage about Prowse aside. I have never EVER seen a first XI decision as mad as playing Trippier out of position over Shaw and Chilwell. That is absolutely criminal. Southgate has put his neck on the line with that decision, if we lose today it’s on him.
That could well be it. Naming three keepers in the usual 23 man squad is a requirement (ie two on the bench). And whilst the squads have been expanded to 26, the matchday squads remain at the usual 23. So quite possibly UEFA require the same rules to apply to these 23 man matchday squads that would have normally applied. But even so, it's still odd that Sancho is left. Surely you instead leave out the three players who would otherwise have not made the usual 23 man squad. Presumably Sancho is one of those 23?!
It is a bit ludicrous to leave a specialist lb out, but maybe he doesn't want to run the risk of being without a left back at all.
How long before a Mexican wave is started, then stutters as the crowd is socially distanced? That may possibly be the only positive arising from Covid-19. Wrong thread?
Positives Foden is absolutely on it. Rice and Phillips playing well together in the middle, which I was skeptical about before. Trippier playing ok out of position. Negatives Sterling and Walker. Kane a bit anonymous so far.
