Blimey, I could have written that Arch I tried not to have high expectations after Mexico but I’ve always felt we underachieved or at least never over achieved. I’ve lost my passion over the years but maybe GS will turn the (my) tide? His squad selection hasn’t helped but let’s see.

On form, sure...but he has had a poor season, is badly off form and lacking confidence. Why start a badly off form player when we have so many other excellent options in that position that are on form?
It isn't just about form. You also need consistency. You can't just keep changing the team around every time someone hits a purple patch for their club. Sterling has far more international experience than the other two, and many more games playing alongside Kane. I mean, I'm more than happy for Grealish or Foden to play, but I'm equally happy with Sterling, and I understand why Gareth is sticking with him.
I personally wouldn't just stick with a player to maintain a consistency in the side. I think consistency is important to an extent, but it's more important in some positions than others. A consistent spine helps a lot and a consistent defensive unit is important. But we have so many good attacking players that have been performing consistently well for a long period of time now, I would argue that none of them are in a 'purple patch' and have been consistently good. I'd personally want to see those who are on form given a chance in our forward line. Sterling has rarely shown his best for England anyway, even when on form for City. As ever, I hope if Sterling does start, he has a great game and shows why I work on beaches and not in football!
Fair enough. Sterling is bloody frustrating to watch. I’d prefer Grealish over Foden if it is a choice between them.
