Me too. I think Rooney will be more of a false 9 because he won't get any room up front with their three CBs. He'll drop deep and try to pick out quick runners. 4-3-3 is probably the best way to counter Chile.
So strange that Rodriguez is starting for England. I didn't even think he really deserved a place in the squad, but hey, it's great to see for us.
Good timing, for him, too. Chile's a good international side, but they leave a fair bit of space behind, or have the few times I've seen them. Whether England has players who'll pick out those runs is another matter entirely, of course.
I've never seen JWP attempt a 60-yard north-south pass that ends up going over the endline on a fly, so no...he has no place in the squad.

Well if they play their typical high line then getting behind them quickly would seem like the answer. Not countering as such, but taking advantage of their main weakness which is the gap between keeper and defense.
