Me too. I think Rooney will be more of a false 9 because he won't get any room up front with their three CBs. He'll drop deep and try to pick out quick runners. 4-3-3 is probably the best way to counter Chile.

So strange that Rodriguez is starting for England. I didn't even think he really deserved a place in the squad, but hey, it's great to see for us.

Good timing, for him, too. Chile's a good international side, but they leave a fair bit of space behind, or have the few times I've seen them. Whether England has players who'll pick out those runs is another matter entirely, of course.

Should we be trying to counter Chile? I'd like to see us imposing ourselves on them.

I've never seen JWP attempt a 60-yard north-south pass that ends up going over the endline on a fly, so no...he has no place in the squad.

Oooh a plot twist. Chile seem to be without Vidal and set to drop the 3-4-3. Might as well go with PTF's lineup then.

Could be worse...the guy hosting the pregame show here in Canada was mispronouncing Zlatan.

Well if they play their typical high line then getting behind them quickly would seem like the answer. Not countering as such, but taking advantage of their main weakness which is the gap between keeper and defense.

Love seeing Adam and Jay there. Such a shame Rickie is out.

Yeah, it would have been awesome to see a front 3 of Jay Rod, Rickie and Adam.
