It's almost as if 'forward' is a category that involves more than just central strikers, especially in a side that plays 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 variants.
Our last game is against United. Sadly. I've heard Welbeck tragically fell down the stairs at St Mary's.
If a team must go trough at our expense, i would also much prefer it to be Iceland than any other team. They indeed are, as you say, very likeable.
Love rooting for an underdog but don't want Dejan to be upset so I will have to be egging on Croatia.
It's between Lambert and Defoe for the fourth spot. If Hodgson had any sense, he'd pick Lambert over an irregular starter who only scores consistently in the Europa League.
I really don't think it's between those two. Defoe is really competing with Sturridge (if he's in contention at all). He's not the kind of player who displace Lambert, as he doesn't offer the same options.
I actually don't think Defoe is anywhere. Great goalscorer and that's it. You get nothing else, and if he misfires you get nothing at all. Can't get into his own team. Look what happened to Michael Owen..?
only quickly glanced at this and still thought you were still talking about Welbeck, until I read `only scores consistently in the Europa League´ as Welbeck does not score in any league
I am certain that they will take five strikers with three of them definitely being Rooney, Sturridge and Welbeck if fit. Lambert has a good chance too then maybe Defoe.
Unfortunately, whilst he was falling he grabbed Rooney, who is now also injured. Carrick was so distraught that he has withdrawn for the world cup
If Rickie plays well in these games (and Carroll isn't back until the new year) I think he'll have booked his place.
I know Lambert is better then just a "big lump" but I still view Andy Carroll as his main rival, if Carroll somehow has a injury free second half to the season and finds form, then he will go. I prefer Lambert, better all round player.
