It's coming up to the 30th anniversary of the fall of the iron curtain and the end of communism in Bulgaria.
I was at The Rosebowl for Bulgaria versus Sweden in the third place game as well as the final between Brasil and Italy. Behind the goal where the penalties were taken. Whitney Houston pregame show!
I was there today. Sterling really is very very good. Just looks a level better than anyone else.
Must have been a great experience tic. A few of my teammates managed to get tickets to the Italy - Ireland game, but I unfortunately couldn't make it.
Many were surprised how well the tournament turned out given the skepticism after the awarding of it to the US. Hell of a success.
Funny, when it was awarded to the US, my mother's husband, a lovely man from Falkirk, was incredibly sceptical and said it would be a disaster as the Americans know nothing about football. I countered with the football is developing but one thing for sure, the Americans know how to stage an event and by god they certainly did. It wasn't a great game but it was an experience my son, eleven at the time, and I will always treasure.
