I liked Withe as a player, good old fashioned centre forward, saw him a couple of times. I thought myself he looked to have aged a bit since I last saw him a few years ago, probably looked his age,but it's hard to gauge what any of us should look like at 74(that's if we make it to that age).I've got a mate a couple of years younger than me who's looked 74 since he was in his 40's and I've got a daughter(youngest lass) who's approaching 40 but still gets asked for I.D in some pubs. I also think other factors come into play such as diet, alcohol consumption, general health, whether or not you've worked all your life, whether it was manual work or a desk job and whether or not that desk job was heavily loaded with stress and/or making big calls on a daily basis.
I've had some bad experiences with TransPennine in the past few years. Like getting onto a train in Paragon going to Manchester, but the driver didn't turn up. So we had to get off, go to another platform to take a Northern train. Then been told to get off at Brough to wait for the train I was supposed to be on because they had found the driver and that train was behind. Too many other examples of a piss-poor service to mention. Which is why I'll use my car, from now on to get to places, rather than use TransPennine. Though I thought Hull trains, on my last trip to and from London, were good .
To be fair I think Hull trains look to have finally got their act together? I'd apply the same comment to LNER recently as well,I get stressed out travelling when I've got several changes to make, especially when there's limited time between trains, but lately they seem to be running on time and long may it continue.
Tbf most of the time my journeys are absolutely fine, but every so often there's a massive cluster ****, seemingly of their own making, like the taking carriages off thing last night. It was obvious what was going to happen! Just makes them seem incompetent, not bothered, or both.
Scored the only goal in the European Cup Final and the European Super Cup to win them both for Villa.
They're not the equivalent of non-league, they have professional players. England vs Andorra in league terms is now more like Spurs vs Cheltenham. 10 or 15 years ago yeah, they were the worst team in Europe by a country mile. There's only San Marino I think that has a squad made up of entirely part time players (with the possible exception of the goalkeeper who plays professionally in Malta) - hence why they're ranked 210th.
I agree it should have been more (even if you base it on the chances that England created and to the Andorra keeper's credit, he did make a couple of decent saves, yeah England should have put four past them), but I wouldn't say it was embarrassing. Embarrassing would have been a draw or a defeat. Disappointing from an England point of view, perhaps.
I get that, but can you imagine Spain, France or Germany only putting 2 past them? I guess it is what it is, but these England results under Tuchel are VERY underwhelming!
I'm not going to try to defend England's performance last night; they were fairly moribund but they maintained their 100% qualifying record, and haven't, as yet, conceded a goal. Tuesday's game against Serbia will give a much clearer picture of where we are. As for Andorra, there's a couple of points worth considering; they take the low block to new, umm, heights. (more accurately they sink it to new depths). For the whole of the game they had a defensive formation with 2 banks of players (4 and 5) which rarely moved more than 20 yards from their goal. They were very well drilled in defending in that manner, which made for a turgid watch. Essentially, we're not moving, try to play around us. We didn't play around them very well. Secondly, outside of a couple of friendlies and specifically in competitive matches, Andorra haven't really been tonked in the last 6 years. They've rarely scored and even more rarely won but their focus has been on keeping the scoreline fairly respectable and, on the whole, they've succeeded at that. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andorra_national_football_team_results_(2020–present)
