The most one sided game of the Euros. Embarassing really to see the best Englandshire has to offer getting the runaround from an old man like Pirlo. He could have played in a wheelchair.

On a brighter note we can all once again stand united in our support for team GB as they attempt glory in the Olympics.

As I said on another thread, they had Rooney and Carroll on the pitch at the same time. That's a strikeforce valued at £62m. Add to that all the other players values and it's probably one of, if not the most, expensively put together teams in international football.

And yet they had not a single player who could touch Pirlo for skill and vision. Not one.

Compare and contrast Rooney and Ronaldo.

Rooney signed for Man Utd for £27m at the age of 18.
Ronaldo signed for Man Utd for £12m at the age of 17.,

One of them is the second best player on the planet. The other isn't even the 2nd best player at Man Utd.

    Rooney was rank rotten.

At the start of the game, I was wanting Mingland to win so we at least had a passing interest in the tournament, but by the end of the game, I was longing to punch **** out of these "stars".

Guy's on £60k a week and can't even pass the ball 5 yards to one of their own players.

Pirlo was just sublime though, I would gladly pound his backdoor in if he was that we inclined.

You have to laugh at the arrogance of the commentators too, Lawrenson said when Carroll came on "Pirlo will be staying well clear of him". Within 5 minutes Pirlo had robbed him of the ball in a tackle and won another ball in the air. Some people think size intimidates class, it does not as was shown last night.

Milner, Johnson, Terry and Carroll can run all day but that's about all they can do, they have little in the way of football skill and would probably be better emplyed as mediocre athletics contestants.

As for Rooney and Young, very very poor indeed, in Young's defence he's only been found wanting now, whereas Rooney has long since been found out at International level.
