Just for information, I'm a partner in one of the world's largest management consulting companies; have a starred credit MBA from Harvard, a double first in Law and Business from Edinburgh and a PhD in Economics (also Harvard). Over to you...

<laugh> you idiot. my background is in football. i've scouted for clubs in the premier league before. there's nothing you could tell me about 80% of footballers in this country that i wouldn't know.

i couldn't give a stuff about your education - i'm perfectly happy with mine. its done me no harm at all and as showing off goes, you've done a tremendous job so far of failing to show off your football knowledge which might be an issue on a football forum...

All of which is mighty impressive - but it means jack **** when footballing decisions are being discussed <doh>
I was staying out of this two-way wrangle, but you can have as many accolades as you like, it doesn't make you any more qualified to talk about football than the man in his high-vis jacket sweeping the streets. <ok>

So not quite the big shot of a few posts ago eh? If you think Welbeck and Campbell are similar players, not surprising the status of your time at PL clubs is past tense. You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. Welbeck is used to create space and hold the ball up (whlst also having other skills eg strength, pace, technical ability), neither of which Campbell does, unsurrisingly as he's half a foot shorter tha Welbeck. Jeez...

what do you mean 'big shot'? to tell someone with my experience in football that i know nothing about football is frankly astounding and you'd think with your education you'd realise that. you've based your assessment of welbeck and campbell, seemingly, on size. welbeck has, as i said before, more about him than campbell as a player but they both perform similar roles for their team. and that was always my point - holt does something different to them and what is the point of giving yourself, as a manager, so few options to choose from?

to be honest, i'm not going to post anymore on this thread. i've said my piece. i'd be amazed if you don't come across in a bad light to anyone who reads it and there really isn't enough time in the world for me to teach you about football. i doubt you'll get on very well on these forums...

I don't want to get involved in this argument but I think it's pathetic to go and talk about that stuff. This is a football forum! There was initially an innocent rant about the England squad and now this has got in the way.

I think Dave or Marstro should close this thread.

ps. its true i don't work for premier league clubs anymore but that was through choice. i still scout for a club outside the football league but more locally as i grew tired of the travel <ok>

agree wonky - this thread has become absurd <ok>

Officially the most ridiculous post I have seen- and when you consider all the WUMs we get that's pretty impressive!

There is no way that Holt is in the same bracket as a striker as Welbeck- Welbeck has a completely different style, not all that dissimilar to Rooney despite the difference in size, which is hardly surprising considering they're at the same club. Ultimately it would be short-sighted of the England set-up to not look at Holt as another option. He is the best player for the style he has in the category of Crouch/Carroll. However, the England selectors ARE short-sighted so they won't pick him.

Not a wind-up, a fact, look me up on LinkedIn. It was purely response to an idiot who replied with such misplaced bravado ie bullshit. A so-called scout who thinks Welbeck and Campbell are similar!! Happy to prove my career and education to anyone. But there is no way that someone who thinks Welbeck and Campbell are similar knows the first thing about football.

Seriously, who gives a toss about your career or education? Absolutely the biggest waste of my time reading through this.

Close this thread for heaven's sake. It may be prudent to let 'mankie' have the last word - his ego would appear to demand it! <ok>

I think you find you started the bravado. Are you really so thick that you thought me mentioning LinkedIn in itself meant anything! Try looking at someone's background and contacts!
