Do you really want Lambert to get called up at this crucial stage of the season? No thanks.

I don't but I think he should be in the side. It was a joke anyway he'll never get called up

Off to Sweden next week to support Ireland, have a horrible feeling Trap is going to start Conor Sammon<grr>. Just thinking have Ireland had many internationals that have played for the Saints at the time....Jeff Kenna definitely and the fantastic Micky Evens got his only Irish cap while playing for Saints. Connolly didn't win an Irish cap while playing for Southampton. Can anyone think of any more?

I live with a United fan, who says my opinion on Zaha is "irrelevant" because I haven't seen him play...

Except I have, and I don't rate him at all. Why is it that United fans seem to dispute cold hard statistics e.g. Zaha not being leading scorer or assistor...

And as for the England team, Danny Welbeck. Enough said.

Earlier in the season I would have agreed with you, but his form right now is not good enough I'm afraid. Still does a vital job for the team, don't get me wrong, but he's not taking chances to score right now.

He's done very well for England though.

Since you saw him (in one match presumably) and decided he wasn't any good, Zaha is tearing the championship apart and clearly has enormous potential. Same goes for Welbeck, he's an intelligent player and will be an important player for England for many years to come.

Tearing apart is definitely a stretch.

Seen him in a few matches, it's pretty much all tricks and very little end product. Are you seriously suggesting he's worth the £15m that United paid for him?

It's obvious that a lot of people take this view, but I can't see how anyone who has been paying any attention to him can simply say they "don't rate him". He's a very exciting player and it's obvious to me that he's going to be a hell of a player in the future.

For the player he is now? No, but when they paid £12m odd for Ronaldo he wasn't any better than Zaha is now. They're paying for the player he will become.

Steven Taylor's been called up to the England squad to cover Gary Cahill after he picked up a knee injury.

United want to watch it. He might stay with them a couple of seasons and then a bigger club might come calling before he's worth any more.

Well that's the way it goes, isn't it..? ;)

When I referred to Zaha I was also jokingly referring to the bigger club as possibly Saints. Hence the last sentence. :)

Have to say that every time I have seen Palace I haven't noticed any massive talent in him. Very good player, no doubt, but he isn't a game changer yet, imo. Mind you, I've never made it a priority to watch Crystal Palace games. :)

There are young players who can't hide their potential no matter whether you're half interested or not. Players like Romelu Lukaku, for instance. He's only 19, yet he looks the full deal right now. In comparison, Zaha is hiding his light under a bushel.

Never seen Zaha play, yet I remember when we were linked with him alot on here thought he was crap, fast abit tricky but with no end product, maybe those 2 extra years have made him a better player whereas a player like Oxo seems to have gone backwards. Playing every week is the only way a young player can get better which Sir alex knows and it seems Wenger does not.

In fairness I can see his point. When my friends, who do not support Saints and rarely watch them except on MotD, dismiss Saints players as 'rubbish' and 'not great' etc, I dismiss their opinions as irrelevant. For example, very few non-Saints-supporters will rate Schneiderlin as one of the best defensive midfielders in the prem, because you need to watch a sufficient number of full matches, not just the highlights, to see what he contributes to the team.

Lennon is out apparently, can't be many wingers ahead of Lallana left to call up surely? Especially seeing as he's already been called up before. Knowing Roy he'll turn to Liverpool and call up Downing, or bloody Zaha.

I'd far rather watch that U21 team than the seniors to be honest. Full of pace, potential, creativity and excitement. As opposed to full of the same old crap.

Potential to then be in the Senior Team, which is the main team, and the reason that England U-21s even exist

Just spotted the little pointy head of Clyne running round with the u21s. Couldn't see Shaw though. Shame u21s aren't on tv any more.

Looks as if Shaw is out of the under-21's again.
