Important thing if Rickie gets called up is that with two out, he would surely go in as first sub if Rooney and Welbeck start whereas before even if he got in he may have been unused. Anyone fancy a 90th minute Lambert winner over Brazil from a penalty coming off the bench? Steps up, wallops it into the top corner, sprints off celebrating and kissing the badge. Don't care much for the national team and particularly not friendlies but I would lose bowel control if that happened. A man can dream... He probably won't even get bloody called up.
If your chasing a game and have Welbeck and Rickie on the bench then who would you call- no brainer. Welbeck I believe has 1 goal this season (the same as Buttner), if he was playing for a lesser team I doubt he would have made into the U21 side
What England need is an experienced, solid Centre Forward, that can win the ball in the air, set up chances for others, score from free kicks, and take penalties, there isn't a single English player in the Premiership that can do that, they will have to look elsewhere unless you know of one that I have missed?
Just seen on Sky that for the first time they have photographed the u19s, u21s and senior squad together at St George's Park. Couldn't spot Luke, but he must be really enjoying it. Thrilling for him. Forgot JWP and Chambers with the u19s.
Its got to be a good thing having all levels training and staying at the same facilities in the short term as they'll be able to learn off of the senior players and in the long term for transition from U19's through to the senior side. It won't be all new to them so should help them bed into the squad.
