The future is bleak and the current squad is bullshit. Roy should be trying to win England something at all costs.
I don't think Lambo will get a call up either, but, if he did, it wouldn't be for a friendly as he isn't in present or future long term plans. His only chance would surely be for a qualifying match where injuries meant they needed to make an emergency call up as we have so few English strikers.
Whilst it is sad that certain players just don't seem to be given a chance because of where they ply their trade, there may well be a bit of good news. As the majority of our team have a week to prepare for the next game, most of Man City's players will be jetting off in various directions to play in theirs, suddenly I'm a little more excited by the internations. Every little helps.
Just see an interview with Leighton Baines in the Mirror, that mentions Luke Shaw as competition. I wonder how close he really is to a senior call-up?
He's only 17 and already looks at home in the prem, he has years to get even better, so I'm willing to bet he'll get a call-up at some point during his career. It wouldn't surprise me if Clyne got a call-up at some point too. I think that they're both even more likely than Adam Lallana to be called up as England don't usually go in for his type of creative play-maker in the middle. But it may well be that Saints old boys, Chamberlain and Walcott, cement places in the team as well. Imagine watching those two along with Clyne, Shaw & Lallana for England. That could have been today's Southampton FC if history had been a little kinder...
If he doesn't get a call-up with Defoe and Sturridge out then I will lose the last glimmer of faith I have in life.
While Cole is still playing, it's going to be difficult for Shaw to get a look-in as there's only room for two LBs in the squad. England happen to be better than any other country in the world for LBs.
Only if it's a serious injury, which I haven't heard that it is. If it's just a knock, then a week without a game will do him, and us, good. Last thing we want is for to actually get a serious injury.
Ramirez has pulled out with injury too. I don't think we will see the best of Ramirez until it starts to get a bit warmer, and possibly not until next season. He's picked up a dead leg on a several occasions now since the serious one, seems to be a bit of a recurring injury.
If Bent or Carroll get a call-up ahead of Rickie I will boycott the game (yeah, you heard me FA) Noticed that even Le Fondre stated his surprised at Rickie's exclusion on Goals on Sunday and ALF is the only other player knocking in the goals on a regular basis atm.
