Both are still able to fulfil an ability to play for England, it was only carroll who stood out as a shocking mention, as I said above, I didn't think he was still classed as an England player, but then again Roy H does have a strange way of picking players.
Anyway, moving on to people who are actually fit. Who has missed out? This is pretty much everyone who's been picked or talked up lately. I'd probably have picked Austin and possibly Richards and a keeper, but that's it. Alex McCarthy John Ruddy Kyle Walker Scott Dann Steven Caulker Calum Chambers Micah Richards Danny Rose Aaron Cresswell Mark Noble Jack Colback Jack Cork Marc Albrighton James Ward-Prowse Jason Puncheon Wayne Routledge Scott Sinclair Jordan Ibe Ashley Young (who had been tipped for a recall) Nathan Redmond Charlie Austin Rickie Lambert Jermain Defoe Callum Wilson
The ones in bold IMO should have been seriously considered. Austin absolutely should've been in there.
The problem with England is they never pick the players when they are in form & stick with the same old same old. Having seen who we're playing this week I expect Rooney to break Charlton's record v San Marino.
If Jon Jo Shelvey has been chosen then that in itself is an expression of how terrible the English national team is. The guy is a pilchard and a bang average footballer.
What is the point in trying to cultivate players like Vardy at international level? I’m guessing Spain, Germany, Italy et al must piss themselves if they bother looking over. We’ve already all but qualified from the weakest group in (my) living memory – why not instead pick some up and coming players from the U21 or U18 and blood them with the experience?
I thought Shelvey was excellent at the KC last season, also we were crying out for his kind of through balls to the strikers, he's actually a decent enough player
