I enjoyed the stupid twitter post published on the BBC "The reason I'd prefer Carroll to go over Holt is Carroll has had loads of pressure so he's used to it whereas Holt's had none."

How can that be a reason. Pretty sure Holt would deal with the pressure better anyway. Carroll has been under pressure but he has hardly thrived

While you know i'm not Holts biggest fan for obviously reasons, I really can't believe that Zamora will get in ahead of him, that would be like the ultimate smack in the face! Andy Carroll, yes i can see going, because he is young and he looked a handful in his previous international appearance.

I reckon Woy will play 4-2-3-1, so in that case there is a chance only 4 forwards will be taken so in my mind that will be Rooney, Sturridge, Welbeck and Carroll. then the 3 behind the striker can come from Gerrard, Young, Walcott, Johnson, the ox (who i believe should go) and perhaps Downing who played really well earlier on in the season just off the striker.

The biggest piss off for me would be Micah Richards missing out. I rate him the best Right back in the country and in the top 3 centre halves, why the **** wouldn't you take him!

Agree about Richards, quality player has pace and strength as well as playing RB and CB. Don't know what game you saw Downing in but he has been s*** every time I've seen him, should be nowhere near the squad.

Just had another complete waste of time debate with the couple of Arsenal muppets in the office again when they continue to laugh at my suggestion that it’s ridiculous that Holt isn’t going to be in the squad or even seriously considered. This is actually how the conversation went – unbelievable!

Me: “he should definitely be miles ahead of Zamora and also above Carroll, Sturridge and Wellbeck in the order”
Them: (laugh, laugh) “don’t talk rubbish mate, just accept he’s not good enough”
Me:: “but how do you know he’s not good enough?”
Them: “he just isn’t, and I guess we’ll never find out”
Me: “and what makes you think Carroll or Zamora are good enough”
Them: “well, we’ll find out next month won’t we”

Honestly, if that isn’t the most ignorant conversation I’ve ever had with supposedly intelligent, knowledgeable people then I don’t know what is.

Bit like the guy on Sky Sports suggesting reasons why Woy (that‘s what I’m calling him from now, bollocks to him) will probably pick Defoe and Carroll at the expense of other strikers such as Sturridge, Crouch, Walcott and Ashley Young – still no mention of the second highest English scorer this season!!

THEY ARE ALL ****ING MUPPETS, THE WHOLE LOT OF THEM!!!!

agree about richards too. one thing that puzzles me is that none of the england managers seem to rate him! plus, gary neville, one of the best right backs of his generation is on the coaching staff - surely there must be a glaring omission in his ability that none of us can see! must confess, i haven't seen the problem with him - i think i'd start him too. he's a beast <ok>

He isn't perfect positionally which I guess must be their main reservation, but he so strong and quick he gets away with it most of the time. Also quality going forward, when he is in full flow he is hard to stop. And as we know at Norwich, having attacking full backs makes you so much more dangerous going forward

see i agree with that but glen johnson is far worse positionally, yet he's got about 30 caps! kyle walker's positioning is awful at times, but his pace makes up for it, same with richards and johnson less so

Have I missed something? He hasn't been left out has he? Or even rumoured to be? I heard Walker may miss out because of his injury then Richards is surely certain to go

Don't get me started on Johnson's defensive abilities, or lack of them! Walker and Richards are light-years ahead of him. They may not be perfect defensively but few are. Take Dani Alves plays in one of the best teams but from a defending point of view he is very average.

supers, although neville was only announced this week, you've got to think that this was only a media thing and that Roy has been talking to him for a few weeks (on the RB / LB) positions?

richards says he was called yesterday and told he wasn't involved, meaning its johnson and phil jones at right back. now i think jones is versatile so i can see why he's in there but he's had a bit of a stinker since christmas and not lived up to the hype. he'll be an extremely good player i'm sure but he's a liability at the moment, just as johnson is. also, i'm not sure i would take terry - how can the sight of him help team spirit in any way?

Thats a shocking decision. I really hope somehow its not true. I have a bad feeling this will be one of the worst squads ever, people say expectations are low now, they may well be lower after this tournament.

It's what I've seen circulating, Henry Winter posted it on twitter that he had been dropped. To be fair right back is one of are strongest positions purely because of Walker and Richards. I know Walker is injured so probably expect Johnson to be in squad, but is Richards has been dropped, which there are stong rumours he has, it will be an horrendous call <doh>

see i would go with danny simpson ahead of glen johnson, and bizarrely, this seems to be backed up in this article. now ok, its in the sun, but that is somewhat irrelevant as its based solely on who DESERVES to go BASED ON FORM. there are a couple of other familiar faces in there...

    http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag...-to-discover-a-stat-tastic-England-squad.html

no gerrard either which if i had my way would be the case, though finding a replacement is tricky

BBC are reporting that Carroll is definitely in. It's bullshit, I hope he gets sent off the long haired twat.
    This is from the beeb:

"Carroll finished the season on a high, scoring the winner as Liverpool beat Blackburn and Everton in the FA Cup semi-final and transforming the FA Cup final when he came off the bench against Chelsea."

Actually he finished this season with a petulant display against Swansea where he made no impact other than wrestling with a Swans player before half-time that on another day would have got him sent off. And in that cup final where he made such a "transformation" he actually missed a piece of piss header from about three yards that Dean Coney would have buried. He has also scored 38 goals in six seasons, Grant Holt has scored 70 in three.
Oh but he scored against Blackburn, forgive me if I don't start frothing at the mouth with excitement.

**** it, we're wasting our breath boys n girls, these ****ers haven't got a clue <doh>
