England Squad For Euros....Predictable, including the customary goon teenager as a spectator wasting a place, but suitably crap, with no better option anyway. No further comment necessary.
Hodgson's team is probably not a million miles from the team Harry would have chosen, had he landed the job, perhaps with the major exception that Hodgson is likely to give the youngsters a chance. It's amazing, isn't it, what a couple of years can do to sap any confidence that any of us might have had that we actually had a chance of winning this competition. I'll be happy if we can avoid being humiliated, let alone manage to get out of our group.
I'm not so sure about Rio, King. As far as I remember, Hodgson was going to talk to him to see if he would agree to forget things and play alongside Terry. If Rio had said "No" which you could understand, given the circumstances, then that would leave Hodgson with a choice. Maybe he just decided that Terry was the better option of the two. Harry, of course, might have decided differently.
Then he is an idiot. You'd have thought he was wise to the Liverpool players, but Johnson instead of Richards - a big , Henderson as backup to Parker, another , Carroll instead a Crouch, a slightly lesser (but all the same). For the final comment, I have to pause, Stewart ****ing Downing, x a million.
Yes. I can't disagree with any of that HD. However, in this case, I was just responding to what King put, and coming up with a possibles reason why Hodgson ignored Rio. I don't dispute the rest, especially Downing. But, that's a different matter.
He said it was for footballing reasons, which I take to mean he thinks Terry is a better player. Can't have seen much of Chelsea recently.
Maybe it's time given the modern world that instead of 'national teams' each league should put in a team. Would be an interesting tournament, Serie A, La Liga, Bundesliga, Premier League, plus othe leagues from around the world. A World League Cup.
So that's why Owen Hargreaves, who's as English as Greg Rusedski and Gareth Bale at the same time, kept getting picked! Also, good to see Roy has picked a captain who keeps his nose clean and is unlikely to cause trouble. Oh, wait...
Messi and Ronaldo! The sulking in the dressing room would be awesome, as would the fights over free kicks!
- Very strange that Richards isn't in. I'd play him with Lescott at centre-back. - Johnson is a good RB with pace, technique and plenty of experience. He was one of the better players in SA. He's always the scapegoat. - Adam Johnson should be in. - Downing has been piss poor for Liverpool but is good for England (goodness knows why). I'd have Johnson or Lennon over him. - Gerrard as 1st choice captain has been a decision long overdue. - Carroll has actually been playing quite well since January. Kenny didn't give him a run of games until the last few weeks. He was unplayable against Chelsea (twice) and very good against Swansea (he nearly scored an outrageous overhead kick :O). Apparently Kenny is no longer at Anfield because the owners got fed up with Carroll's treatment (they were at the cup final). - If the hungry, determined Carroll turns up, England have the perfect foil for the likes of Gerrard, Young etc. There'll be strength defensively and offensively with him for set pieces. Anyway, England will probably not win it. You lot always collapse.
