    I thought when carroll came on we should have taken rooney off and left wellbeck on because we were defending that deep that our only outlet at times was to hit long balls for carroll to flick on and with wellbecks pace we may have sneaked a goal as rooney looked totally knackered and unfit.

    true but they would never take Rooney off. He could stand still all match and still not get taken off.

    He actually did.

    Some people on here will have noticed that I'm not one to get on the back fo England players are moan and groan about them but Rooney yesterday didn't even try. His whole game is based around effort and determination and without that he isn't a great player, yesterday he didn't even offer that. Welbeck and Carroll did his running for him. If he wasn't fit he shouldn't have been on the pitch, he didn't do anything in two games.
