Anyone hear Paul Ince on 5-Live this morning. He actually made sense. For him in 96 under El Tel we played the best football ever and looked like world beaters and were unlucky not to win the whole thing. Venebles sacked for non football reasons. Followed by Hoddle who again got England playing some great football and sacked for non footballing reasons. Since 98 we have stood still in our development irrespective of how good our players are. Everyone else including Iceland, Slovenia etc are all catching up. Southgate isnt the man for him as he is the same old GA tool, He reckons Hoddle should come back. Patrick Berkley also agreed with this. So why haven't we moved forward, and I reckon its because of many of the reasons we've come up with on here, but the main obvious reason is the FA have done nothing to help, only himder and yet another manager goes for non footballing reasons. Maybe the FA needs changing and their mandate changing
Was just thinking - it mus be embarrassing for some of the players to be named in the squad, and then find that the 'elevated' coaching they were expecting is actually much, much worse than they're used to & dare I say it - a bit old fashioned. If indeed this is the case, you can understand why performances & attitudes suffer.
