Gosh ... this "overseas" selection debate will probably rage on forever ... look, KP wasn't wanted by SA because of his disruptive influence, so England bought him ... SA were right, look where they are today with good talent coming through ... Ashes should stay with England, Australia are genuinely poor now, wouldn't win the County Championship ... my biggest disappointment with Cook as skipper is that England haven't improved at all, at best marked time but for me actually gone backwards ... fortunate to be playing a rubbish Aus so much ... SA destroyed Eng in our own backyard last year and taught us some valuable lessons, but we haven't learnt at all ... Ashes is a great excuse to sweep the poor performances under the carpet because we struggled for so long against the Aus mean machine under Waugh ... need to buck up Mr Cook and improve this team

I suppose in hindsight this was entirely predictable - somewhere along the line we always seem to have an absolute shocker of a day quite often early in a series. Hopefully we will have got this out of the way now - if we can keep the lead to under 350 we might be in with a chance, 350-400 pretty dicey but not impossible, 400+ lets hope for rain!!

 

The form of Cook, Trott and Prior has been poor for a year which does trouble me.

 

Last time Strauss, Cook and Trott got us out of a hole at Brisbane - I am not convinced it can be done again

 

England will not save this test, but the remaining top order batsmen need to bat well on Day 4

 

Carberry was unlucky but Trott looks like he has lost all confidence. Two more wickets and the rest will follow.
