Strange fact, Shan Masood, Pakistan captain was Root and Brooks captain at Yorkshire, for two or three games at the beginning of this last county championship. He knows them better now.
How good is Root? But looking to the future, how good is Brook going to become? Given the bowling of Gus, and the introduction of wicketkeeper Smith, the basics are there for as successful few years ahead.
Root is pure class, and Brook is certainly heading in the same direction. My only concerns long term is with our bowling, especially in the spin department
Yes I wasn't sure whether that was the case or not, so went with 4 just in case. I think the wicket is still playing very well and it was mental fatigue which helped us get so many wickets so quickly, hopefully a good night's sleep for the bowlers and they can wrap it up early. I would love a good night's sleep rather than being wide awake so I am working on my assignment at half 4 in the morning!

England need 297 to win. It's going to be difficult. Not looking good, both openers gone. Pitch is spinning at right angles, we need Root to see us home.
Earlier in the day, while spinning, it was not terribly difficult, but towards sunset it changed, just as it had done yesterday. In my opinion the two wickets to call were reckless and unnecessary. Get in and used to the pitch and conditions before trying Bazball.
What I think is daft is that this is the same wicket they played upon last test. How can this be allowed, an absolute road first test and for the second obviously it was wearing more. This was a much more important toss to win than the first test
