Third T20 international, Canberra England 112-2 (12 overs): Buttler 65*, Malan 23 Australia 30-3 (3.5 overs): Woakes 3-4 No result (rain) - England win three-match series 2-0
Summary from Perth at halftime Five wickets for Curran as Afghanistan collapse from 91-4 to 112 all out Curran first England bowler to take five wickets in a T20 Wood, bowling at high speeds, takes two wickets, as does Stokes Livingstone, Moeen, Buttler & Rashid all take brilliant catches for England
I watched the game on TV (if I had my act together I should have gone and watched it live). I think Afghanistan will cause a lot of problems with their bowling to the more established teams especially whilst defending a total. If they had have got 30-40 runs more it would have been a really tight game. As it was we didn't bat too well, but still did enough.
So, just a few hours after Norwich lose dismally to Burnley, England contrive to lose to Ireland in the T20 world cup. Not the best sporting day I've ever had
Terrible bowling performance. We bang it in short, Ireland fuller getting swing and seam movement. Not good leadership from management. Edit:- we would not have lost that game with Morgan as captain.
Not sure I'd be entirely happy about this? Matthew Wade tests positive for Covid-19, could still play against England Australia wicketkeeper tests positive 24 hours out from the England clash but has mild symptoms and is expected to play as Australia do not have a back-up
England's highly-anticipated Men's T20 World Cup match against Australia in Melbourne was washed out without a ball being bowled leaving Group 1 wide open. England will likely have to win their last two games to progress although even that may not be enough. They are currently second in the table, level on points with leaders New Zealand and Ireland, whose game against Afghanistan was washed out earlier. Australia also have three points but are in fourth on net run-rate.
ICC Men's T20 World Cup Group 1, Brisbane England 179-6 (20 overs): Buttler 73 (47), Hales 52 (40); Ferguson 2-45 New Zealand 159-6 (20 overs): Phillips 62 (36); S Curran 2-26, Woakes 2-33 England won by 20 runs Back in the competition now
Significantly higher net run rate than Aussies so a decent win will ensure our progress, and Aussies demise
Summary Australia victory puts them into second place in Group 1 An England win over Sri Lanka on Saturday, regardless of the margin, will see them overtake Australia and finish second New Zealand are now guaranteed a place in the semi-finals
