Absolutely pathetic! (that's the PG version).
So many of the shots were daft Stokes, what was that? Butler it was the over before tea for goodness sake! Totally inept batting.... cue 'lessons learned', 'individual mistakes' and somehow finding a way to blame the bowlers. No it's the batting, it's pathetic! 147, 236, 185 - add 300-400 to that and you actually have a good first innings score in Australia

England need to play 2 good quality opposition sides before a test series starts and actually invest time and attention to the test team.

Root should not be captain (not because I necessarily think he's a terrible captain), but he is the best player and doesn't need the pressure of trying to marshal a truly pathetic batting unit. ECB stop playing the longer format of the game in spring and autumn get some games in the the middle of summer. Make it cheap for spectators, children free or something, why not put it on free TV - they are killing the sport. T20/100 boring, good test cricket is like fine dining, the occasional fast food is okay, but gaaahhh! Stop the worthless sound bites and sort things!

    My sentiments exactly.
Most people don't appreciate Test Cricket.
It's my favourite spectator sport, but most people "don't get it".
This has to be one of the worst touring teams I can remember.
ECB too much interest in 20/20.
Root the only true Test batsman we have.

England implode once again, ending the day on 31/4 and still needing another 51 to make Aus bat again.
I wouldn't be overly surprised if we contrive to lose by an innings!! <yikes> :emoticon-0145-shake

If I were one of England's bowlers I would be super pissed at how after dragging ourselves back into the match, the batsmen have decided to take some leave this series and not bother turning up.

THAT WAS MEANT TO BE A JOKE, ENGLAND, YOU F****NG DINGBATS! <grr> <grr>
What an abject, spineless, limp-wristed effort that was.
One guy who'll remember it for some time is Scott Boland, who on debut took

    O M R W
    Boland 4.0 1 7 6 <applause>

    Just watched the lowlights,
What an absolute diabolical inept gutless display
Didn't think it could get any worse, but our batsmen proved me wrong.

    Now watching SA v India.
SA 2 - 1,might get fewer than we did

This was posted in the horse racing forum......

Very poor indeed Red. I got sent a stat this afternoon on England batsmen this year and their total runs. I haven’t checked it but I’ve no doubt it’s on the money. Leading run scorers:
    1. Joe Root - 1708
    2. Rory Burns - 530
    3. Jonny Bairstow - 391
    4. Ollie Pope - 368
Now if the yawning gap between the skipper and everyone else wasn’t bad enough also consider that Extras contributed 412. So in 3rd place overall only bettered by Burns and Root. Unbelievable.

They forgot to add in Extras in No 3 with something like 490

Where is the much lauded Buttler on that list? A waste of a position in my humble opinion. Foakes should be keeper, and likely a better batter.

I agree Foakes should be given a chance not bloody Bairstow, he's great in 1 day/ T20, but lost it in tests
