Hardly anyone has said he had a good world cup - but most say he played ok on Thursday. Nobody has said you shouldn't question his ability. Hardly anyone has said he is world class. Keep building your strawman though - you're doing a great job of guessing the thoughts of 46 million people - and getting it completely wrong.
Doesn't bother me in the slightest but if you think missing 2 good chances that put you out of the world cup is playing ok then by all means keep believing that.
How does that work than? If he had scored either of them the game would have unfolded entirely differently. We would probably have still gone out because the midfield was anonymous and the defence was woeful. To put the blame entirely at Rooney's door is ludicrous. Oh and Sturridge missed a couple as well.
I am not blaming him solely but as Suarez said the difference between the 2 teams was Uruguay took their chances.
It's a sad and pathetic exit for England. The worst performance EVER by an England team at a World Cup Finals. Fabio Capello got slated for only getting England into the Last 16 and robbed by the lack of Goal-Line Technology. Sack Woy and Jagielka for being completely out-of-their-depth and let's look forward to Euro 2016.
The epl doesn't have enough good English players playing for the big teams...that's the reason they ****ed it. Jagielka is not good enough. Not taking Cole as lb was a mistake. Wellbeck ...****e. Henderson= average
Too much money that's the curse in reality. Because most English clubs pay vast wages compared to most of Europe, lots of highly paid players go to England. There's a higher standard of foreigner in the EPL and really good English players are not getting the chance to learn their trade week to week. Sometimes even if the high earning foreign player is not playing well he will still get a start, that must be frustrating for young English players, but it seems lots are happy as long as they are set up for life financially.
Nail on the head Pud. Until people accept that Premier League clubs are not producing good enough English players we'll just get worse and there's no point in blaming the manager as there's little he can do.
1. Joe Hart (Man City) 2. Nathaniel Clyne (Southampton) 3. Ashley Cole / Leighton Baines 4. Slippy Gerraaard (Leevapoool) 5. Gary Cahill / Rio Ferdinand 6. John Terry / Jolean Lescott 7. Theo Walcott / Raheem Stirling 8. Frank Lampard / Jack Wilshere 9. Daniel Sturridge / Andy Carroll 10. Wayne Rooney / Ross Berkley 11. James Milner / Danny Welbeck There are plenty of good enough players, but they are far too 'powder-puff' under Woy. <beelin>
Scottish clubs are now starting to produce good players.. and sticking with it as they can't afford to buy players from abroad. You now have good players at Scottish premier ship and English championship level...gives Strachan options. Never be world beaters but should have a great chance of finishing second in our Euro qualifying group.
Agreed Pud, Arsenal need a striker, needing instant success to keep up with the EPL/Champions league millions they go for Super Mario, rather than being able to nurture through the ranks. Have to admit with England out can enjoy the world cup more, which in general has produced good games.
