It was good by England (in the first half) but I would still expect Spain to beat us on home soil 9 times out of 10. This was the 1 in 10.

There's more chance of Peter Sutcliffe coming home.

I think this shows where England is. They're a very good side but only for 45 minutes, usually the first 45. If they can learn to close out the second half, it'd be reason to get excited.

This is it and I think its that next step where Southgate will show whether he is the guy who only starts the revolution, or starts and finishes it. We are very young, and time/experience will hopefully see us get better managing games. The key will come in that midfielder (your Modric/Xavi type) who can dictate a game. Barkley impressed me first half as did Winks. Both allowed themselves to fall down a hole 2nd half and we lost control. First half you felt that whilst it was classic counter attack football, we still tried to play when we had it. In the 2nd half we looked to tire and start simply worrying about being in the correct defensive position. Once you lose that threat you become a sitting duck for wave after wave of attack.

Plenty to take from the game and it was an excellent game for their development if they sit and analyse and take the good and bad.

For me though the best thing about the other night, and its a feather in UEFA's cap, is to finally see mid season games outside of a qualification campaign have some meaning. Both teams trying desperately to win, full strength sides out, kicking lumps and playing a proper competitive game of football. Hopefully we can banish international friendlies bar those used as warm ups to an international tournament.

Plus this was worth watching the 97mins for this alone <laugh> Fancy booking someone for that. Games gone mad, it was a stellar tackle.

I wonder if Dier got a thank you message from Mo Salah (and a few others) last night?

Mind I didn't think this was a booking, never mind a red card...

This is literally the worst thing that happens !

Once this fickle nation starts to get carried away over a few results in irrelevant games the hype is embarrassing..

Shout when you've won not prior

Oh and this it's coming home things gone too far

You're being laughed at from all corners of the globe.

It's a **** song made by an unamusung southern punk and it was about the fact we were hosting the euros for the 1st time in ages .

Nothing to do with the fact we invented a game were simply not very good at

    And as it ****ing matters!!

If we invented bread does it really matter? If we lost a baking competition would it be clever singing breads coming home?? No and after 21 years singing breads coming home ???? Exactly!

Calm down CC. Except for Mbemba, no one is saying we're great or that we are going to win anything, and I'm pretty sure Mbemba was joking.

I have one of my biggest ever wins on this game. 28/1 with Betway for England Win, over 10.5 corners, over 3.5 bookings.
Corner 11 was in to stoppage time so my hoop was twitching.
