I would say unassailable, yes! If Alonso won every race which he obviously wont then Vettle would only have to finish 2nd each race in what will probably remian the fastest package over the rest of the season. With Webber unable to challenge him (be it on outright pace or team orders) it is more likely that Vettle will at worse fall over the line, but more likely win the WDC with a win or two to spare!

I also dont think you can use the Pizzonia sitiation as an example! Willimas budget was vastly restricted compared to the current red bull (even though they have bought limited spares to races in the past - Winggate 2010 Silverstone springs to mind) and Pizzonia was a rookie - a far cry from the vettle/webber partnership for which Red Bull advocate equal machinery and status to race within the spirit of the sport!

I have no issue with Vettle and to be fair think Webber just isnt at the same level, but you would have to be wearing sh1t coloured glasses to think for one minute that Red Bull will do everything in their power to have Vettle put webber in then shade - making racing decession much easier!

Oh and why would they come together? It is often a sensible call for a team to instruct a driver that his team mate is faster and to let him by! that would have beena 6 point swing between team mates and the same total for the team! That call was just as easy to make as it was to tell Webber to hold station!

well, if you think a 75 point gap is unassailable in a season where a single racer can still get 250 points then that's an issue you need to take up with your mathematics teacher. As to wing-gate, another bit of Mark Webber induced propaganda, the story from the Red-bull garage say that Webber didn't even want the wing and preferred the old one, when BOTH got damaged they could only fix one and decided to put it on the car of the driver who really wanted it, playing perfectly in Webbers favour who could then do what he usually does and go find a camera to cry into about a wing he only wanted so Vettel wouldn't have it.

Very few teams will let their drivers duke it out in the final stages if there is no benefit in it, and those types of 'maintain position' orders have always been given, even when team-orders where banned, and no one had a problem with it before. no one had a problem with it with prost-Mansell, senna-Berger, Mansell-Patrese but Vettel and Webber seems to cause a ****-storm, mainly thanks to Mark webbers machiavellian machinations.

...Hello just a step in from an F1 board moderator.

Its great you are having a debate on the matter on Webber and should keep it up. But please lower the amount of personal attacks with your fellow forumers.

Also make sure you stick with the house rules

Thanks,

I am unsure if I have contravened any house rules but my purpose is not to show favoritism in anyway, I am neither for against either driver! However, the user has distinctly conveyed an opinion on a driver above and beyond the thread topic which is vindictive beyond belief and quite frankly, borderline offensive! I am unsure as to how a thread (or the site in general) can benefit in such one sided speculation, which is pure character assignation! I made my comment on this thread in the early stages to air my view and have merely watched from a distant the thread develop! I have nothing further to add that would be constructive but felt it appropriate to point out to the user that their comments were not constructively developing the thread further – merely reducing the threads credibility! I will refrain on commenting further on this article – many thanks.

I reckon Webber and Alonso have found something good here in the Nurburgring, Vettel was struggling to match Webber's P2 time in the session.
I can't wait for Qualifying.

I think Webbers got this race. He always thrives in the face of adversity, that's why i've picked him to win.

I think it is a great shame that Smithers has felt the need to ignore this thread after his last response.

Any bets that Vettel will be told to back off away from Webber? Or will he need to...

It's more likely Webber will be told to move over for Vettel.

I was wondering if Vettel had got a bee in his bonnet about this team orders kerfuffle, and demanded that everything was fair and equal so he could beat Webber fair and square on the track. Oops.

What price for a dodgy pit stop from a sole Webber mechanic come the race?

Hahahaha. Very funny Basil…

Well, if ever Horner needed an opportunity to demonstrate his integrity, he can at last order Vettel to remain behind. If this happens, it will, to my knowledge at least, be the first time such an order will have ever been given to Vettel during this pairing of the Red Bull drivers.

Come on now Horner: team points and all that eh? You don't want your guys coming together now do you? - Show us all, for the first time, that you have a backbone that doesn't always lean to one side. And when those orders rain down on you from on high, tell Helmut and Makeschitz to go shove it.
:emoticon-0150-hands
Cheers.

Webber has actually performed better since the Mapping rule came in. Maybe that was Vettels secret edge on Mark
