https://www.lcfc.com/news/1179422/voting-opens-for-three-end-of-season-dinner-awards/press-release End of season awards are up for voting now For player of the season I think its really between Ricardo and Chilwell. Outside contenders are Maddison, Vardy and Evans Ive voted Ricardo Young player ive gone Chilwell. Cant really give it Tielemans for 10 games Goal of the season ive voted for Demarai Gray at Cardiff. And that was purely for the moment. Players showed great character that day If I was voted purely on how good the goal was I would have voted for Ricardo against Man City or Vardy at Tottenham
POTY Ricardo (Chilwell close and I know it’s based on the season as a whole but Chilwell’s performance v Newcastle is still painful in my mind) YPOTY Maddison GOTS Ricardo v City
POTS - Ricardo YPOTS - Maddison GOTS - Ricardo v Man City Chilwell started off well but hasn't maintained it since hes been linked to Man City. Special mention to Ndidi too, having a pretty good season defensively (apart from Newcastle where he forgot how to pass)
Pots - Ricardo Ypots - Chilwell Goal - probably Ricardo v City Other shout outs: - most improved: Ricardo - Biggest disappointment: Gray - Breakthrough of the year: Chilwell - signing of the season: Tielemans
Will be interesting who the player's player of the season is - will show who is popular in the dressing room.
Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s Schmeichel. Or N’didi. Often you see it go to a defensive player as they appreciate the work they do.
I think Vardy gets overlooked alot. Last season he should have got it for getting 23 goals This season he hasnt been good and had shocking service but still has managed 15 goals. Thats still an incredible achievement for a striker playing outside the top few clubs But because Vardy scored 24 and won the league he doesnt get the credit he deserves sometimes especially from people outside of Leicester
I think he does get the credit he deserves tbh - particularly from Leicester fans. However, I do feel that other players have done better this year.
He does from the Leicester fans but not from the other fans and some pundits 16 goals now for Vardy. Yes he has had a tough season at times but wheres a stat for you. Minutes per goal ratio Aguero 112 (19 goals) Aubameyang 132 (18) Sterling 142 (17) Kane 143 (17) Martial 148 (10) Mane 151 (18) Son 152 (12) Salah 153 (19) Vardy 154 (16) Lukaku 161 (12) Hazard 165 (16) Lacazette 166 (13) Wilson 189 (12) Rashford 193 (10) Pogba 197 (13) Richarlison 207 (12) Firmino 211 (12) Jimenez 231 (12) So for someone who has had shocking service and not the best season thats amazing stats from Vardy. Wilson, Kane and Rashford aside all have been brought for big money
Certainly a good return considering the service he was getting in the early part of the season. He must be miles ahead in the goals to £ spent ratio (excluding players coming through clubs own youth academies and no spend i.e. Kane). He does receive recognition from most of the more knowledgeable and worthy pundits. A lot of opposition fans dislike him, which is testimony to his skills.
Updated (Salah drops below Vardy) Aguero 112 (19 goals) Aubameyang 132 (18) Sterling 142 (17) Kane 143 (17) Martial 148 (10) Mane 151 (18) Son 152 (12) Vardy 154 (16) Salah 158 (19) Lukaku 161 (12) Hazard 165 (16) Lacazette 166 (13) Wilson 189 (12) Rashford 193 (10) Richarlison 195 (13) Pogba 197 (13) Firmino 211 (12) Jimenez 231 (12)
