Oh yeah, in all seriousness, it makes no sense to call smokers a burden on the NHS. There's tax revenue smokers pay, & in any case, people who live long and prosper will still probably end up spending most of their final decade in and out of the doctor's surgery, because old age is an incurable condition even in the cleanest living individual.

Most UK smokers I know nowadays pay **** all UK tax. They get em from places like here, where they’re less than half the UK price.

    Going slight off topic.

I would do what they do in some USA states and that is allow cannabis to be sold, that would raise takes to pay for the NHS etc.

If only all of that revenue from smoking was going to the NHS though.

Most of it just goes into anything the govt decide to spend it on. So it could well be used to help fund Trident renewal or making arms to sell to the Saudis. That’s not the fault of smokers of course, but I think it’s a misnomer to say that smokers pay for their NHS treatment through the tax revenue from tobacco.

    Agree.

And I would also ring fence revenue from tobacco, alcohol etc to pay for NHS treatments for related conditions.

    I'd decriminalise all drugs.

We're not too far from it happening wuth cannabis anyway.

It's inevitable imo. The Americans led the way with prohibition, even banning booze and, in most states, gambling. That was a huge failure, and so was the War on Drugs.

The US, ironically, is now leading the way back to where we all were 100 years ago, where human vices where tolerated as inevitable, and addiction was seen as a medical rather than criminal problem.

I smoked for 21 years, quit about a year ago and started vaping.
I imagine its not 100% healthy, but nothing is. The only way to stay 100% healthy is to do nothing, and thats just ****ing boring.
If people want to smoke, let em smoke, if they want to vape, let em vape.

The Diacetyl/popcorn lung **** has been debunked, besides, no e-juice uses Diacetyl any more anyway, so even if it did cause popcorn lung, it wouldn't affect vapers.
One thing for sure, is that even if vaping isn't risk free, it is still a damn sight safer than smoking, and its cheaper, and it smells better.
But I haven't turned into one of these anti smoking, ex-smoker douchebags either, most of my friends smoke cigs.
I just figured that having a degenerative muscular disease that leaves me half crippled was enough ****e to go through, without increasing my chances of getting cancer 1000x to boot, not to mention my dad died of throat cancer......

But thats what's great about being human over other animals, we, to an extent, can get to choose the way we bring about our own demise, at least we get more of a say than other species.
Some men chase other peoples wives, some men drown themselves in whiskey, some eat themselves to death......

Better to have lived......who wants to live like a ****ing mormon!

    This <ok>

Decriminalise, licence and tax cannabis. Take drugs like herion out of the criminal sphere and use the money from taxation to provide treatment programmes.

yup, would stop so much criminal activity.
Same with prostitution, decriminalise it and license it and make it a legit business, that way we would make sure that the women who do it are safe, they are not diseased, they are getting paid properly and are not ill treated by horrible pimps.
Also the punter can be sure he wont just hand over his money and be led down an alley to be blackjacked by Leroy and have all his money stolen.

Would end sex trafficking and a lot of the slave trade going on.

Prostitution isn't illegal if done in your own home and isn't part of a brothel.

It's only curb crawling and organised whore houses where someone else is profiting that's illegal.

Curb crawling is not safe and should be illegal, but brothels would be the best way to do it.
Think about it, if its legit, and the girls are all tested and the minimum wage applies, we know they are clean and being paid appropriately.
Plus it would eliminate the need for girls to curb crawl.
Plus think of the tax the government could claim off that ****.

Sex and Drugs are two things that are never going away, so instead of spending pointless amounts of money trying to police them in a futile exercise, legalise them, govern them properly and make it work for the economy.
The crime rate would drop too, easing police and NHS workloads.

You're missing the point of brothels are illegal if someone else is profiting from it, as they're essentially a pimp.

It's also perfectly legal for a woman to prostitute herself in her own home if they wish to.

I dont know about you, but I wouldn't want all the punters knowing where I lived.

Regarding brothels, without overarching management there is no one to enforce workplace laws, make sure the girls are tested and are clean etc, there at least needs to be a union or guild overseeing it.

I think it legal for 2 women or men to work from the same house and have a madam to man the phones.

Just look at the local papers to see the adverts, so must be legal otherwise the cops would shut it down quite quick.

I can honestly say I've never done it before.

There's been a fair few occasions where I'm browsing sites at 4am coked up out of my eyeballs though, not gonna lie <laugh>

Don't think I'd ever go through with it though <ok>
