Really doesnt look to bad. Coutinho could go in no.10 with Sterling wide, or Coutinho in for Lallana, but I dont think we see the best of Sterling when he is wide in this system. He needs freedom to roam.

 

To me it gives us more protection at the back and a physical precense in midfield.

Yes with both Lucas and Can in that position it helps the defence and allows the forwards to do their thing, it solves a lot of problems and would work better than the current formation imo.

 

If only Lucas could go in Jan, he's a liability and his ineptitude leaves us horribly exposed on counters and his tackling, for a DM is pretty useless.
His passing has improved but he still is about as creative in ability as a black crayon.

Can and Gerrard in the middle for me, Gerrard probably does better DM work than Luas and Gerrard at least has a pass on him.
Lucas looks worse every season that passes.

I disagree with both, Lucas has done a good job recently.

 

I also say Lucas has done very well. He breaks up play and keeps things ticking over well.

Gerrard doesnt protect the back 4. He just doesnt have the natural instinct of a DM.

I want a strong defensive player ahead of a creative in DM. A player who is both is a luxury. Unfortunately a rare luxury.

 

DM or CB? The options with Can are growing.

We may need another alternative to Henderson now.

 

Really impressed with Can. Plays with confidence and composure, and gives a real physical presence.

And the lad is only 20 years old. A real talent on our hands.

I would prefer him playing as a DM though with the ability to drive the team forward, similar to Matic.
